Medical Social Work Department joins in the celebration of the World Social Work Day with the theme: "Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Wellbeing".

"Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Wellbeing" means building and nurturing relationships, understanding, and support between people of different ages to promote long-term, sustainable wellbeing for individuals, families, communities, and society as a whole.

Foster connections between generations
Promote mutual understanding and respect
Support knowledge sharing and skill transfer
Encourage collective action for social change
Improve overall wellbeing and quality of life

By strengthening intergenerational solidarity, we can create stronger, more resilient communities that value and support the wellbeing of all members, regardless of age.

This 2023 celebration of Filipino Social Worker's Day, the ECSGH-MSSU have moved an extra mile to conduct four batches of Information, Education and Communication Drive in barangay Jagobiao participated by the pregnant mothers and community leaders, presenting the available programs and services of the unit as well as the programs and services of Malasakit Center. Also, the RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children have been discussed with the objective to strengthen individuals and community in helping and promoting to be a VAW-FREE community. ECSGH-MSSU aims to render a responsive and effective total healthcare services to its clients and patients.

The activity has become successful and productive because of its active work and support led by the MSSU-Unit Head Ms. Jean Nica G. Bacaling, and her staff for putting extra effort and flexibility to work schedule. To the barangay Jagobiao staff for helping us throughout the whole activity as well as to the participants for actively listening and participating. And, to ECSGH for giving us the opportunity and support to realise this.

ECSGH-MSSU successfully conducted a Capacity Building for Custodial Patients held in Tyche Beach Resort, Catmon Cebu on August 09, 2023. The said activity in lines with the celebration of Filipino Social Worker's Day 2023 with a theme of Sustaining Responsive Filipino Social Workers towards Inclusive Diversity and to ECSGH Hospital Week 2023.

This aims to foster empowerment, motivation, improve sense of personal well-being, provide creativity and leisure time to our Hansen's Disease patients.

Thank you ECSGH for giving us the opportunity to inspire, to celebrate and enjoy. Indeed, it was fun filled of
learnings on a hot beachy day!

In line with the 18-Day Campaign on Anti-VAWC, Jeanica Bacaling - Medical Social Service Unit Head, led a lecture on Republic Act 9262: Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children, with the United Women Organization of Paknaan held on Dec. 09, 2022 at Brgy. Paknaan, Mandaue City, Cebu.

This campaign aims to provide awareness and to guide in addressing this prevalent social issue towards a VAW-FREE community. We encourage everyone to help and support end the violence against women and children. Let us all be active, responsible and united to secure, protect and prevent our community.
