MAKATI CITY, PHILIPPINES - The Department of Tourism (DOT) has introduced the Philippine Tourism Data Dashboard, an open data platform that gives the public direct access to the country's key tourism indicators.

At its core, the dashboard lets users explore how many tourists have come in and gone out of the country over the years. It covers Visitor Arrival data dating back to 2010, alongside Outbound Traveler data from 2023 to 2025, allowing users to see not only how many travelers are coming in and going out of the country, but also where they come from and where they are headed.

The figures can be explored from several angles with users being able to follow the rise and fall of arrivals month by month, see which months draw the greatest number of visitors, and compare one year with its preceding year to trace growth or decline.

A pie chart offers a quick view of the Philippines' leading source markets for the year, while a more detailed breakdown shows monthly arrivals from the top 20 countries of origin, with other source markets grouped together for easier reference.

Beyond visitor counts, the dashboard looks at the larger footprint of tourism on the Philippine economy. It tracks Tourism Direct Gross Value Added (TDGVA) data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), a measure of how much tourism contributes to the country's economy. This includes breakdown by industry, showing which parts of the tourism sector โ€” from accommodation to transport to food and beverage services โ€” generated the biggest share of tourism's economic contribution in 2025.

The dashboard likewise tracks tourism employment, comparing total national employment against tourism-characteristic employment and showing tourism's share of jobs nationwide.

For researchers, journalists, and other stakeholders who wish to look beyond the headline figures, the platform also provides a data dictionary and downloadable datasets behind every chart on the site.

According to Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay, the dashboard reflects DOT's commitment to transparency as a foundation for stronger tourism growth. "Making this information available to the public is not just about transparency for its own sake. It is about giving our stakeholders, from local government units to tourism businesses to ordinary Filipinos, the tools to understand how our industry is doing and where the opportunities are," she said. "When people can see the data for themselves, they become part of the effort to grow tourism, not just observers of it," Secretary Angara-Mathay added.

As of 31 August 2026, the dashboard records 4,415,860 visitor arrivals, 0.78% higher than the 4,381,585 arrivals recorded over the same period in 2025. The United States leads the country's source markets for the period, with 926,575 arrivals, or 20.98% of the total, followed by last year's top market, South Korea, with 744,732 visitor arrivals, or 16.86%.

These figures draw on both eTravel records from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and records from the Bureau of Immigration, providing a more complete count of international visitor arrivals for the period.

The launch of the dashboard forms part of the Department's activities for Philippine Tourist Promotion Month this September, and complements the Discover More To Love campaign's continuing push to expand access, whether to travel opportunities or to the information that helps the public understand and take part in the country's tourism story. The DOT hopes to institutionalize this effort moving forward, ensuring that public access to tourism data remains a consistent feature offered by the Department.
