𝗦𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗠𝗔𝗧 𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗬𝗦

Isang tunay na inspirasyon ang kuwento ni 𝗝𝘂𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻 𝗦. 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗼, isang dating OFW sa Brunei Darussalam na nagtrabaho bilang account clerk at g**o sa loob ng 15 taon. Sa kabila ng mga hamon ng pagtatrabaho sa ibang bansa at pangambang magsimulang muli sa Pilipinas, pinili niyang harapin ang panibagong yugto ng kanyang buhay nang may tapang at pag-asa.

Sa tulong ng 𝗦𝗮 ’𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘀, 𝗜𝗸𝗮𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮’𝗮𝗺 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗶𝗿 (𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗠𝗦) 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺, muling nabigyan si Juvelin ng pagkakataong maipagpatuloy ang kanyang pagmamahal at bokasyon sa pagtuturo dito mismo sa ating bansa. Ang kanyang mga natutunan, kasanayan, at karanasan sa ibang bansa ay naging matibay na pundasyon para sa panibagong simula, kasama ang kanyang pamilya.

Ang mensahe ni Juvelin sa kanyang kapwa OFW: “Huwag matakot magsimulang muli. Ang lahat ng natutunan, karanasan, at kasanayan na nakuha natin sa ibang bansa ay hindi nawawala. Baon natin ang mga ito sa ating pag-uwi at sa panibagong paglalakbay dito sa sarili nating bayan.”

𝗗𝗠𝗪 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗼 𝗘𝗰𝗶𝗷𝗮𝗻𝗼 𝗢𝗙𝗪 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) opened its Teachers’ Month celebration by honoring former Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Nueva Ecija who returned home to continue their calling as educators through the Sa ‘Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am at Sir (SPIMS) Program.

A total of 93 SPIMS beneficiaries joined “Balik-Turo: A Hero’s Journey Home,” held during the Bayanihan para sa Balikbayang Manggagawa–National Reintegration Network (BBM-NRN) and Job Fair at the Nueva Ecija Coliseum in Palayan City.

The tribute highlighted their experiences abroad, journey home, and renewed purpose as educators in the Philippines.

NRCO Director Andrea Luisa C. Anolin, Teacher VI Joan Marquez, Teacher VI Juvelin Antonio, Teacher II Rosalie Tabago, and Dean Zeres Sebastian shared their stories and encouraged fellow OFW returnees to embrace new opportunities at home.

For Teacher Juvelin, coming home means being open to what may be waiting in the Philippines.

“When the time that you will be here, don’t be afraid, because maybe if you cannot find the purpose or the opportunity abroad, maybe it’s waiting for you here in our country,” she shared.

Participants also received TESDA training vouchers to support further skills development and career opportunities.

Their stories carry a powerful message: coming home is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of a new chapter.

Through Balik-Turo, the DMW celebrates OFW teachers who brought home their skills, experience, and commitment to serve—returning to the classroom and continuing to inspire Filipino learners.

In Palayan, Nueva Ecija, great to see our returning OFWs who are licensed teachers get work under our public school system — “Sa Pilipinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am at Sir” (SPIMS) — as announced by President Bongbong Marcos in . Thank you, Sec Sonny Angara, for the partnership.

The SPIMS returned OFW teachers got their teaching kits and financial assistance from the Department of Migrant Workers yesterday.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Regional Office I, facilitated the distribution of Enhanced Livelihood Program for OFWs Reintegration (ELPOR) to beneficiaries at the DMW RO I Satellite Office in Dagupan City.

In view of the flooding that affected travel to La Union, the Department brought the distribution closer to the beneficiaries in Dagupan City, ensuring that they can conveniently access the assistance they need.

The initiative reflects DMW's commitment to bringing government services closer to our migrant workers and responding to their needs with compassion, accessibility, and timely assistance.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Regional Office XIII, in partnership with the Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU), conducted its Capacity Building Session
on August 28, 2026, at SNSU.

Thirty-three children of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) participated in the activity, wherein they shared their experiences of having parents working abroad and the ways they cope with the challenges of family separation. The activity provided a safe and engaging space for the students to connect with one another and recognize that the experience of having a parent work overseas can bring both opportunities and emotional challenges. The discussions emphasized the value of healthy coping mechanisms and maintaining strong family relationships despite physical distance.

Through the Capacity Building Program for the Children of OFWs, the Department continues to extend its support beyond migrant workers by recognizing the needs of the families they leave behind. The initiative seeks to equip young participants with greater awareness, understanding, and practical ways to navigate the realities of being part of an OFW family.

For many Overseas Filipino Workers, coming home is more than simply returning to the Philippines. 𝘐𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘫𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳, 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥.

For 𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐞 𝐌. 𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐳𝐨, her journey from working in Hong Kong to becoming a Teacher I at Upo Elementary School in Maitum, Sarangani Province is a story of resilience, perseverance, and a second chance.
After returning home from Hong Kong, Mary Mae took a leap of faith by joining 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐇𝐀𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐢𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 of DMW Region XII. Her courage and determination paid off as she was named the Regional Winner, giving her the opportunity to represent SOCCSKSARGEN Region on the national stage. What began as a simple decision to step forward became a meaningful milestone in her journey as a returning OFW.

Despite falling short in the competition, Mary Mae remained committed and even more determined to pursue her dreams not only for herself but also to create a ripple of positive change in the lives of others.

Through SPIMS, Mary Mae was given the opportunity to return to the classroom to be an educator serving Filipino children in her own community. 𝙏𝙤𝙙𝙖𝙮, 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙙𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨 𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙏𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙄 𝙖𝙩 𝙐𝙥𝙤 𝙀𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙞𝙣 𝙈𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙢, 𝙎𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙞 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚.

Her journey is a reminder that coming home does not mean the end of an OFW's story. Sometimes, it marks the beginning of a new chapter.

From working abroad in Hong Kong, to rebuilding her life at home, and now shaping young minds in the classroom, Mary May’s story reflects the resilience of returning OFWs and the possibilities that await when their skills, experiences, and dreams are given another opportunity to flourish.
Her journey came full circle—from leaving home to work abroad, to coming home to teach, inspire, and serve her fellow Filipinos.
Through programs like SPIMS, the skills and experiences gained by OFWs abroad can become valuable contributions to communities back home.

𝗡𝗢𝗪 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚: PASIG CITY — The National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO) is conducting a two-day writeshop on the Process Improvement of the Digital Transformation Initiatives and Kabuhayan Reintegration Program Service Delivery on September 3–4, 2026, at The Linden Suites, Pasig City.

Led by Assistant Secretary for Reintegration Services Francis Ron C. De Guzman and NRCO Director Andrea Luisa C. Anolin, the activity brings together NRCO personnel and key stakeholders to review existing processes and identify ways to make reintegration services more accessible, efficient, and responsive to returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

The writeshop also includes the participation of Regional Director Jhoaden Lucero, Internal Audit Service (IAS) Director Alan D. Pasumbal, and representatives from the DMW Land-based for OFW concerns, along with stakeholders from the Kapatiran ng Nagbalik at Magbabalik na OFW Nurses ng Pilipinas (KNMONP), Pinay Care Workers Transnational, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The first day focused on reviewing existing processes and identifying areas for improvement, while the second day centers on validation, discussion, and consensus-building toward more streamlined and responsive digital transformation and Kabuhayan service delivery for returning OFWs.

Sa aktibidad, nabigyan ang mga dumalo ng reintegration services at mga oportunidad sa trabaho sa loob at labas ng bansa. Kasabay rin itong isinagawa bilang bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng ika-30 anibersaryo ng Unang Sigaw ng Nueva Ecija.

Pinangunahan nina Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac at Nueva Ecija Governor Aurelio "Oyie" Matias Umali ang programa, katuwang ang 26 na ahensya ng pamahalaan at mga pribadong institusyon.
Tampok din sa aktibidad ang 11 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) ng mga OFW, 88 benepisyaryo ng Sa 'Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma'am at Sir (SPIMS), at iba't ibang seminar sa kabuhayan, pananalapi, at proteksyon.
