Hi, Bestie! September na! Ang bilis ng panahon, diba?

The past eight months may have been challenging. There were probably days when you felt tired, lost, or unsure of what comes next. But somehow, you kept going—and that matters.

As we enter the last four months of the year, I hope you remember that you don’t have to carry everything alone. It’s okay to reach out, to pause, to ask for help, and to simply take things one day at a time.

There is still so much life ahead of you—more days to experience, people to meet, memories to make, and little moments that haven't happened yet.

So, whatever today looks like, please stay.

And if you’re having a difficult time, I hope you know that someone is always willing to listen.

Here’s to a gentler September, and to the four months we still have ahead.

I’m proud of you for making it this far, bestie.

Keep going. 🤍

On August 24, 2026, the Breastfeeding and Lactation Room at Pavilion 15 was officially inaugurated and blessed, marking another step toward creating a supportive and breastfeeding-friendly environment for employees and clients.

This meaningful initiative is a collaborative effort of the Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System, Occupational Safety and Health Committee, Department of Pediatrics, Human Resource Management Office, Nutrition and Dietetics Section, Planning and Development Office, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Section, and Public Health Office.

The opening follows an important milestone last July 28, when the facility received its Lactation Room Certification from the Department of Health (DOH).

The new room provides a dedicated and comfortable space where breastfeeding mothers can attend to their needs while at the hospital. Its establishment reflects the combined efforts of the different offices and sections that worked together to make this space available.

May this room serve as a practical and welcoming space for mothers, and as a continuing reminder of the importance of supporting breastfeeding in the workplace.

The Public Health Office (PHO) conducted a Mental Health Caravan, bringing mental health awareness and support closer to youth organizations in the community.

Mr. Jonas Robbie M. Isorena discussed an overview of mental health and the importance of recognizing it as part of overall well-being. He also tackled commonly misused psychological and mental health terms, helping participants better understand these concepts and distinguish clinical terminology from everyday expressions.

Meanwhile, Mr. Marvin Baraoidan discussed the importance of creating a supportive environment for young people, including recognizing warning signs, knowing when to seek professional help, providing appropriate support, and making proper referrals. He also emphasized active listening, empathy, and non-judgmental support when responding to someone who may be experiencing emotional or psychological difficulties.

Through this initiative, PHO continues to promote mental health awareness among the youth, challenge misconceptions and stigma, and encourage young people to seek support when needed.

𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 2026

Prioritize Breastfeeding. Create Sustainable Support Systems.

When things feel heavy, huminto at huminga.

Kaya mahalaga ring alagaan ang ating mga baga para patuloy tayong makapag-deep breathing lalo na sa mga panahong kailangan natin ng kaunting pahinga.

𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭

The Public Health Office was invited by the Caloocan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department to conduct a Mental Health Awareness Seminar. The activity was attended by barangay officials and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) from different barangays in Caloocan City.

The seminar aimed to strengthen the participants' understanding of mental health, particularly the importance of early recognition, proper support, and appropriate referral for individuals experiencing mental health concerns. It also helped enhance their knowledge and skills in responding to mental health concerns during disasters and emergencies, contributing to local disaster risk reduction efforts.

The speakers shared practical and relevant information throughout the seminar. Mr. Mark Joseph C. Español discussed an overview of mental health and common mental health concerns, including misconceptions that may lead to misunderstading and stigma. Ms. Kate Balbido shared techniques and strategies for managing stress and maintaining well-being.

Ms. Ma. Cristina Ponteres discussed how to recognize possible warning signs of mental health concerns and highlighted the important role of barangay officials and BHWs in providing assistance and helping create a safe and stigma-free community. Meanwhile, Ms. Glaiza Pearl U. Bucatcat-Diaz introduced the Daloy ng Pag-asa Program of the National Center for Mental Health, which supports individuals as they transition back to the community after treatment.

The seminar provided participants with useful information, practical strategies, and an opportunity to share experiences and learn from one another. The knowledge gained from the activity can be shared and applied in their respective communities.

Through activities like this, mental health awareness and support can reach more people at the community level.

Let us continue to listen, understand, and support one another. With proper knowledge and support, we can help reduce stigma and promote better mental health in our community.

The Lose It to Win It: Besties Edition continued its fitness journey this month with the Eat Smart, Move More activity.

The activity had two parts. The first part was a lay forum about Meal Planning and Food Label Reading. Ms. Saveena Airish Comia from the Nutrition and Dietetics Section discussed the importance of meal planning and how to properly read food lables. After the discussion, the participants were asked to create their own meal plans based on what they learned from the session.

The second part was the physical activity led by Coach June Iluminado from Anytime Fitness - California Garden Square. He guided the participants through full-body conditioning exercise and pre-boxing activities.

The participants actively joined the activities and enjoyed both the learning session and the physical exercises. The activity helped them learn how to make better food choices and encouraged them to stay active and maintain a healthier lifestyle.
