Earlier today, the personnel of Mamburao District Jail underwent an inspection facilitated by 𝐉𝐒𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐑𝐀𝐘 𝐋 𝐃𝐄 𝐋𝐔𝐍𝐀, Assistant Regional Director for Operation, and 𝐉𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏 𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐘 𝐁 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐍, Chief of the Welfare and Development Division.

The activity highlighted the Bureau’s commitment to ensuring discipline, professionalism, and readiness among its ranks. The inspection also served as an opportunity to reinforce the core values of the BJMP in upholding secure, safe, and humane jail management.

The presence of our esteemed leaders reflects the strong support and guidance from the Regional Office in continuously improving operational standards and welfare initiatives for both personnel and Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).

Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro – On September 11, 2025, under the guidance of 𝙅𝙎𝙄𝙉𝙎𝙋 𝙇𝙀𝙎𝙇𝙄𝙀 𝙏 𝘿𝘼𝙉𝙂𝙐𝙋𝙊𝙉, District Jail Warden, the Mamburao District Jail actively participated in the 3rd Quarter 2025 Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), a nationwide initiative to strengthen preparedness and resilience against disasters.

With the full involvement of both jail personnel and Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), the drill simulated proper response procedures during an earthquake, emphasizing the importance of “Drop, Cover, and Hold” as the first line of defense. The activity also highlighted coordinated evacuation, accountability checks, and emergency response practices within the facility.

The exercise not only tested the readiness and alertness of everyone inside the jail but also reinforced the Bureau’s continuing commitment to upholding safety, saving lives, and reducing risks during natural calamities.

The success of the drill reflects the dedication of Mamburao District Jail to promote a culture of safety and disaster resilience, ensuring that both personnel and PDLs are well-informed and well-prepared to face unexpected emergencies.

𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐬: 𝐏𝐃𝐋𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐠 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠

Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro – In line with the rehabilitation and development programs of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, a Skills Enhancement Activity on Tote Bag Crochet Making was successfully conducted on the morning of September 11, 2025, at Mamburao District Jail, under the leadership of 𝙅𝙎𝙄𝙉𝙎𝙋 𝙇𝙀𝙎𝙇𝙄𝙀 𝙏 𝘿𝘼𝙉𝙂𝙐𝙋𝙊𝙉, District Jail Warden.

The activity was facilitated by JO1 Hannah Joane G Punan-Calitang, Skills Enhancement Officer, and participated by Four (4) Female PDLs and Fifteen (15) Male PDLs.

The session started with an introduction to crochet tools, yarn types, and basic stitches. PDLs were guided step-by-step on how to begin a crochet project—learning chains, single crochet, and shaping techniques for tote bags.

Participants showed great enthusiasm as they explored different colors and designs, turning yarns into creative tote bag masterpieces. This initiative not only honed their craftsmanship but also encouraged patience, focus, and self-expression.

✨ Tote bags crafted by PDLs are also available for purchase, and they accept customized orders—making each piece not only handmade but also uniquely designed with love and hope.

Such livelihood skills aim to prepare PDLs for a more productive reintegration into society—one stitch at a time.

💯 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐠-𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐝: 𝐏𝐃𝐋 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞

Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro – On September 10, 2025, under the leadership of 𝙅𝙎𝙄𝙉𝙎𝙋 𝙇𝙀𝙎𝙇𝙄𝙀 𝙏 𝘿𝘼𝙉𝙂𝙐𝙋𝙊𝙉, District Jail Warden, JO2 Richmund Mata, Unit Jail Nurse, successfully conducted a Random Drug Testing to Persons Deprived of Liberty (7 Male and 2 Female) and 5 Personnel of Mamburao District Jail.

Prior to the testing, all participants were thoroughly briefed on the procedure and the significance of maintaining a drug-free environment within the facility. The urine testing was carried out under close supervision to ensure fairness, transparency, and integrity of the results.

Results revealed that all tested PDL and personnel were NEGATIVE for any illegal substance.

This initiative reflects the Bureau’s continued commitment in upholding its mandate to ensure a safe, healthy, and drug-free jail facility.

𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐊𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬

Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro – As part of its continuing rehabilitation and livelihood programs, Mamburao District Jail conducted a series of Skills Enhancement Activities for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), featuring hands-on training in Lumpiang Togue Making, Lumpiang Shanghai Making, and Homemade Cheese Stick Making.

The activities were facilitated by JO1 Hannah Joane G Punan-Calitang, Skills Enhancement Officer, under the leadership of 𝙅𝙎𝙄𝙉𝙎𝙋 𝙇𝙀𝙎𝙇𝙄𝙀 𝙏 𝘿𝘼𝙉𝙂𝙐𝙋𝙊𝙉, District Jail Warden. A total of 20 PDLs (6 female and 14 male) actively participated in the culinary sessions, demonstrating enthusiasm and cooperation as they learned the step-by-step preparation of each product—from ingredient preparation to cooking and presentation.

Beyond providing new skills, these activities also created an avenue for productivity and livelihood inside the facility. The finished products are not only enjoyed by PDLs and personnel but are also made available for purchase by visitors of the jail, offering PDLs a sense of accomplishment and an opportunity to contribute positively while in custody.

Through initiatives like these, Mamburao District Jail reaffirms its commitment to the Bureau’s mandate of rehabilitation, equipping PDLs with practical skills that can support their reintegration into society.

𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐏𝐃𝐋𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬

Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro – Under the supervision of JSINSP LESLIE T DANGUPON, District Jail Warden, the Skills Enhancement Activity at Mamburao District Jail was successfully conducted, spearheaded by JO1 Kim O Espillo, Chief, Welfare and Development and JO1 Hannah Joane G Punan-Calitang, Skills Enhancement Officer, with the support of the duty personnel.

A total of sixteen (16) male Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) actively participated in the training, where they learned the proper way of preparing espasol, a traditional Filipino delicacy.

The program aimed to enhance the culinary skills of PDLs, equipping them with knowledge that can serve as an additional livelihood opportunity once they return to their communities. Beyond skills development, the activity also boosted their morale and provided a meaningful and productive way to spend their time inside the facility.

MAMBURAO, OCCIDENTAL MINDORO – Sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni 𝑱𝑺𝑰𝑵𝑺𝑷 𝑳𝑬𝑺𝑳𝑰𝑬 𝑻 𝑫𝑨𝑵𝑮𝑼𝑷𝑶𝑵, District Jail Warden, matagumpay na naisagawa sa Mamburao District Jail ang Skills Enhancement Activity na tumuon sa Pagluluto ng Lumpiang Gulay at Turon bilang bahagi ng mga programang pangkaunlaran para sa mga Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).

Sa pangunguna ni JO1 Hannah Joane G Punan-Calitang, Skills Enhancement Officer, layunin ng aktibidad na ito na hubugin ang kasanayan ng mga PDL sa larangan ng pagluluto, magbigay ng kaalaman sa masustansya at masarap na pagkain, at magturo ng posibleng mapagkakakitaang kabuhayan sa hinaharap.

Masigasig na nakibahagi ang mga PDL sa bawat yugto ng aktibidad—mula sa paghahanda ng sangkap, pagbabalot, hanggang sa mismong pagluluto. Ang mga nailutong lumpia at turon ay agad ding ibinenta sa loob ng piitan, na nagbigay hindi lamang ng kasiyahan kundi pati na rin ng maliit na pagkakakitaan para sa mga kalahok.

Patuloy na nagsasagawa ang Mamburao District Jail ng iba’t ibang skills enhancement programs upang matulungan ang mga PDL na makapaghanda para sa mas produktibo at makabuluhang pagbabalik-loob sa lipunan.
