On July 1, 2025, the Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) Program, under the Alternative Education Department, conducted home visits and interviews for the identification, assessment, and selection of potential beneficiaries of the La Mesa de Sor Consuelo Program in Barangay Guinhawa and Barangay Bulihan, Malolos, Bulacan.
The initiative operates under the Mother Rita Barcelo Caritas Center (MRBCC), the university’s extension office, which seeks to extend support and opportunities to individuals and families in need within the local community.
The activity was participated in by key personnel from the university, including Dr. Ma. Elizabeth Vivar, Director of the Alternative Education Department; Sr. Regina M. Cesar, OSA, Vice President for Spiritual Formation and Extension; Ms. Wendy Resurreccion, RSW, University Social Worker; and Prof. Roody Angelo S. Juan, Director of the MRBCC Office, together with representatives from the Student Coordinating Board (SCB).
Through home visits and interviews, the team gathered relevant information on the circumstances and needs of potential beneficiaries as part of the assessment and selection process. The activity also provided students with an opportunity to gain firsthand experience in community engagement and social work practice.
The initiative reflects the university’s commitment to social responsibility, community extension, and holistic development, while strengthening collaboration among administrators, faculty, social work practitioners, and student leaders.
