The Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO) participated in a seminar-training on Water Quality Analysis, Procedures, and Water Sampling conducted by Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) - DENR Region 3 last March 18, 2026 as compliance to the directive of Provincial Governor, Daniel R. Fernando, for the โlevelling upโ and improvement of skills of the PGB personnel.
The training aimed to enhance the technical knowledge and practical skills of participants in conducting accurate and reliable water quality monitoring. Topics discussed included the. Clean Water Act of 2004, proper procedures for water sampling, preservation techniques, handling and transport of samples, as well as the analysis of key water quality parameters such as pH, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), salinity, conductivity, and oil and grease.
Resource speaker Engr. James L. Romero- Chief, Manila Bay Coordinating Unit from EMB-DENR Region 3 emphasized the importance of following standard protocols to ensure data integrity and compliance with environmental regulations. The session also highlighted the role of water quality monitoring in safeguarding public health, protecting aquatic ecosystems, and supporting evidence-based environmental management.
The activity provided BENRO personnel with valuable insights and hands-on guidance, strengthening their capability to implement effective water quality monitoring programs within the province. It also reinforced the commitment of both agencies to uphold sustainable environmental practices and ensure the protection and preservation of water resources.
