PNP GAINS GROUND IN CYBERCRIME FIGHT, POSTS 95 FILINGS, 7 CONVICTIONS
The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) continued to strengthen its response to cyber-enabled offenses in July 2026, recording 95 cases referred for regular filing while securing seven convictions in separate cases during the month.
The figures reflect the PNP ACG’s sustained work across different stages of law enforcement—from receiving and investigating complaints, gathering and examining digital evidence, and coordinating with prosecutors, to pursuing cases through the courts.
Among the 95 cases referred for regular filing, Libel under Section 4(c)(4) of Republic Act No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 accounted for 45 cases. Estafa or Swindling under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Section 6 of RA 10175 followed with 37 cases, while 13 cases involved Unjust Vexation under Article 287 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to applicable provisions of RA 10175.
Meanwhile, the seven convictions secured during the same month involved various cyber-enabled offenses, including violations of RA 12010 or the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act, RA 10175, RA 11934 or the SIM Registration Act, and RA 11930 or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials Act, as well as Grave Threat.
Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the figures demonstrate the importance of treating cybercrime enforcement as a continuing process, where every stage—from investigation to prosecution—must be handled properly.
“Kapag may reklamo, hindi puwedeng hanggang report lang. Kailangan may malinaw na aksyon, maayos na ebidensya, at tamang proseso. Sa cybercrime, mabilis ang galaw ng mga gumagawa nito, kaya kailangan ganoon din kabilis at kaayos ang pagtugon ng PNP,” General Nartatez said.
The accomplishments were driven by cyber patrolling, digital forensics, intelligence monitoring, case build-up, and close coordination with complainants, prosecutors, courts, and law enforcement partners, in line with the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations to strengthen responses to evolving digital crimes.
The PNP’s intensified cybercrime response also supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s broader peace and security agenda by helping protect Filipinos from threats that increasingly extend into the digital environment.
As cyber-enabled offenses continue to evolve, the PNP ACG will sustain evidence-based investigation and close coordination with concerned agencies to ensure that complaints receive appropriate action and that cases are pursued through lawful processes, reinforcing the commitment to a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.
