READ: This year’s Habi Kadayawan was the debut of the community-based category in the accessory competition. Artisan Bae Imelda Danwata Licardo of the Datu Danwata Women's Association in Malita, Davao Occidental topped the category with their “Bakutal” bag. She also received P150,000 cash.

The "Bakutal" bag is created by recycled ukay-ukay, where they redesigned it by creating Tagakaolo patterns.

The Davao Occidental Provincial Tourism Office said that “the introduction of the community category at the Habi Kadayawan, has paved way to the rise of tribal fashion and making known the unique cultural attributes of the region.”
