Commemorating World Water Day 2026
In line with this year’s local theme, “Where Water Flows, Equality Grows,” the Malaybalay City Water District (MCWD) organized a Sawaga River Clean-Up Drive on March 21, 2026, in Sumpong, Malaybalay City. The initiative was spearheaded by MCWD General Manager Engr. Nolito S. Binahon, together with the dedicated personnel of MCWD.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the MCWD Board of Directors, led by Chairman Engr. Jorge C. Lagumbay; PW-Malaybalay; Barangay Sumpong; Bukidnon National High School and its Senior High School students under the leadership of Sir Paul O. Orong. We also acknowledge the invaluable support of environmental advocacy groups—ECO-VENTURE Club Philippines Inc., and SAWAGA Movement—as well as government agencies, including the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), represented by Ma’am Quinnie Balandra.
Through this collective effort, 200 volunteers successfully gathered 66 sacks of non-biodegradable waste, a clear demonstration of strong environmental stewardship and community solidarity.
Together, let us remain steadfast in the fight against plastic waste in our waterways, combat climate change and continue working hand in hand to protect and preserve the Sawaga River for future generations.
