HIGHLIGHTING FILIPINO VALUES THRU ‘PAROL’ MAKING
CONTEST GUIDELINES AND CRITERIA
1. Participants
Open to all elementary and secondary learners officially enrolled in the schools within the division.
*The contest has two categories: a. Elementary Category and b. Secondary Category.
2. Guidelines
a. The Parol can be of any shape and must be an original design. It should be made of any recycled materials.
b. The details and/or concept of the parol must depict the theme of the 2021 Filipino Values Month celebration: “Pagpapaunlad ng Pagkatao, Pakikipagkapwa at Pananampalataya: Hamon sa Panahon ng Pandemya”.
c. Maximum size of the Parol is 4ft and a minimum of 2ft in height.
d. The Parol must be handmade. No commercially made parol shall be submitted in the contest.
e. The District Level Winning Parol will advance in the Division Level Contest.
f. A participating district must submit the following contest requirements in the google drive provided
a photo of the Parol which is hung in a house
a three (3) minute video presentation of the parol during the production and completion processes with a lively Christmas song as background

g. The folder of the district created within the google drive must be properly labelled:
Category_District_School_Name of Learner
for ex. Elem_Agno_AgnoCS_JuanBautista
for ex. Secon_Burgos_JoseRiveraBonsayNHS_JohnPaulRosete
h. All Public Schools District Supervisors with the assistance of all elementary and secondary YF school heads in-charge are requested to facilitate the Parol Making Contest (District Level).
i. All winning entries in the division level shall be turned over to the YES-O Division Federation (Elementary) and YES-O Division Federation (Secondary) which they will use for their environmental preservation and conservation advocacy and fund generation purposes.
j. The artist/s will be held liable to any issues that may arise with regard to the originality and authenticity of the artistic output.
3. Timeframe of the Contest
November 26-December 2, 2021 - District Level (one entry per category)
December 3, 2021 - Online Submission of Contest Requirements; Submission of the Actual Parol (District Entries) in the Division Office
December 6, 2021 - Division virtual selection of Top 3 winners per category
December 7, 2021 - Submission in the D.O. of the Top 3 winning entries
December 9, 2021 - Final judging of the Top 3 entries
December 10, 2021 - Virtual Presentation of Entries, Proclamation and Awarding of Winners
4. Criteria for Judging
Creativity & Originality – 30%
Workmanship & Durability – 20%
Earth Friendly – 25%
Symbolism & Relevance to the Theme – 25%
Total – 100%
5. Announcement of Winners
The decision of the judges will be final and irrevocable. Winners will be announced through DepEd Tayo – Youth Formation – SDO 1 Pangasinan page on December 10, 2021, 9am onwards.
6. Prizes for Each Category
CHAMPION – Plaque of Recognition for the learner and Certificate of Recognition for the coach
1st Runner-Up – Medal and Certificate of Recognition for the learner and Certificate of Recognition for the coach
2nd Runner-Up – Medal and Certificate of Recognition for the learner, and Certificate of Recognition for the coach
