VISAYAS, MINDANAO GRIDS UNDER RED ALERT FOR 9 HOURS

A red alert will be raised in both the Visayas and Mindanao power grids for nine hours today, September 3, 2026, due to the continued shutdown of major coal plants.

The alert, which could trigger rotating brownouts, will be in effect from 1 PM to 10 PM in the Visayas and from 12 PM to 9 PM in Mindanao. | via Brix Lelis

𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆: The Association of Local DRRM Officers of Sarangani conducts its Second Quarterly Meeting, September 2, 2026, at Ladol Beach Resort, Ladol, Alabel, Sarangani Province.

The meeting was presided by MDRRMO Malapatan Head and at the same time the Association of LDRRMOs of Sarangani Vice President, Mark Christopher M. Quiño, MMPA.

This quarter’s meeting is hosted by LGU Alabel through its Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office led by LDRRMO Designate, Narvin Lachica, CPA.

The forum was graced by OCD XII Regional Director Rodrigo O. Sosmeña, Municipal Mayor of Alabel Lilybeth Salarda, Sarangani PDRRM Officer Rene Punzalan, alongside LDRRM officers, personnel, and guests across the province.

As of 2:00 AM today, 23 August 2026, the Tropical Depression with international name "GAENARI" (formerly "NENENG") is being monitored OUTSIDE the PAR and has been relocated within the monitoring domain of PAGASA.

Meanwhile, the Tropical Depression (formerly LPA 08h) is being monitored OUTSIDE the PAR.

The Typhoon with international name "SAUDEL" is also being monitored OUTSIDE the PAR.

All are advised to monitor updates from DOST-PAGASA.

As of 2:00 PM today, 21 August 2026, LPA 08f (formerly "NENENG") is being monitored OUTSIDE the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and has a MEDIUM chance of redeveloping into a Tropical Depression within the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, LPA 08h is being monitored OUTSIDE the PAR and has a MEDIUM chance of developing into a Tropical Depression within the next 24 hours.
The Severe Tropical Storm, with international name "SAUDEL", is also being monitored OUTSIDE the PAR.

Meanwhile, the Low Pressure Area (LPA 08g) has developed into a Tropical Depression and is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Another Tropical Depression is being monitored outside the PAR.
