ALAMIN I Kinilala ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Makilala, Cotabato ang mga inisyatibo ng 39th Infantry Battalion ng Philippine Army may kaugnayan sa pagsusulong ng kapayapaan at paglaban sa insurhensya sa bayan.

Nitong Lunes, pinangunahan ni Vice-mayor Ryan Tabanay ang pag-abot ng token of appreciation kay Lt.Col. Ezra Balagtey, commanding officer ng 39IB, kasabay ng pagsaludo sa kontribusyon ng kasundaluhan sa pagsusulong ng isang insurgency-free municipality.

Ayon kay Tabanay, malaki ang naitulong ng 39IB, katuwang ang iba pang opisina ng pamahalaan, sa pagtataguyod ng whole-of-nation approach hindi lamang upang maisulong ang kapayapaan kundi upang mapalakas ang ekonomiya ng munisipalidad.

Nabatid na sa pamamagitan ng Community Support Program ng kasundaluhan ay nabuwag kamakailan ang Guerilla Front ALIP ng Far South Mindanao Region at ang Pulang Bagani Command ng Southern Mindanao Regional Committee ng New People’s Army. Kaugnay nito, idineklara ang Makilala bilang insurgency-free municipality sa pamamagitan ng nilagdaang Municipal Peace and Order Council Resolution No. 306 noong Abril 12 ngayong taon.

PEACE COMMUNICATION| Local Government Unit of Matanao initiated the premier of Tupad Pangako Program Documentary in the municipality, today, July 24, 2023 held at the Municipal Hall, Matanao, Davao del Sur.

The documentary showcases the emancipation of Davao del Sur from insurgency and its journey towards a peaceful and progressive province as well as the conflict transformation stories of every municipalities formerly distressed by insurgents.

The above-mentioned activity which
was attended by the employees of LGU Matanao aims to raise the consciousness and participation among government employees in terms of sustaining an insurgency-free Davao del Sur.

It can be recalled that Davao del Sur was declared insurgency-free since 4th Quarter of 2021 through Davao del Sur’s Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) Resolution Nr 1 approved on May 25, 2022.

COMMENDATION| The 39th Infantry Battalion Peace initiatives and efforts was acknowledged by the Local Government Unit of Makilala through a Commendation awarded today, July 24, 2023 held at the Municipal Ground, Makilala, Cotabato.

The commendation was given as a token of appreciation for the unit’s peace efforts and initiatives that paved way in achieving an insurgency-free municipality.

Atty Ryan Tabanay, Municipal Vice Mayor of Makilala has been grateful to the contribution of 39IB. “LGU Makilala has witnessed how dedicated 39IB together with other government agencies through Whole-of-Nation Approach in every aspect to achieve and sustain peace in our municipality that stabilizes our security which led to uplift Makilala’s economic status.” Atty Tabanay expressed.

It can be recalled that for the past two years, Guerilla Front ALIP of the Far South Mindanao Region and the Pulang Bagani Command of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee used to be monitored in the municipality were declared as dismantled through the conduct of the unit’s Community Support Program resulting to the collapse of the mass bases and the Organs of Political Power of the Communist Terrorist Groups which subsequently led to the declaration of Makilala as an insurgency-free municipality through the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) Resolution Nr 306 dated April 12, 2023.

PANOORIN | Matagumpay na naisagawa ang Turn-Over Ceremony ng Charlie Company, 39 Infantry Battalion, 10 Infantry Division noon lamang ika 19 ng Hulyo taong 2023 sa Charlie Company Command Post, Brgy Maligaya, Columbuo, Sultan Kudarat.

Pinangunahan ni Lieutenant Colonel Ezra Balagtey, Commander ng 39IB ang pagtatalaga kay 1st Lieutenant Victor Marquez bilang bagong Charlie Company Commander.

Ginawaran naman ng parangal mula sa iba’t ibang stakeholders ang dating company commander na si 1st Lieutenant Aljon Malinab bunsod sa mga serbisyo na kanyang naibahagi sa papapanatili ng mapayapang komunidad na kanyang nasasakupan.

`Kadiwa project’ launched in ex-NPA lairs

The government has intensified its peace and security efforts, via the Kadiwa ng Pangulo project, in villages in the hinterland boundary of Davao del Sur and Cotabato, previously occupied by communist terrorists.

Just last July 17, seven people’s organizations in the now “insurgency-free areas” participated in the Kadiwa ng Pangulo project roll out at the provincial capitol in Amas, Kidapawan, Lt.Col. Ezra Balagtey of the Army’s 39th Infantry Battalion said Wednesday.

The 39th IB secures a number of barangays at the boundary of Cotabato and Davao del Sur provinces, where the New People’s Army, now tagged as “communist terrorist group,” or CTG by the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces, once operated with impunity.

The Kadiwa ng Pangulo project is part of Malacañang’s advocacy on establishing trading centers in far-flung areas where farmers can sell their products at fair prices, not via unscrupulous middlemen.

Marycel Lambas, secretary of Rano Farmers and Peace Advocates Association in Barangay Binaton in Digos City said they appreciate the expansion of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo project in barangays at the border of Davao del Sur and Cotabato where they have community projects.

Emil Anding Atilano, a community leader, said the CTGs took shares of their earnings from farming before their barangay in Makilala was liberated from rebel control three years ago.

The barangays where they reside, once bastions of the CTG, had been declared insurgency free as a result of interventions by local government units, the provincial police in both provinces and the Army’s 39th Infantry Battalion.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 12 released last week a P246,000 livelihood grant for 82 families in Barangay San Vicente in Makilala town in Cotabato province that got displaced by CTG-Army clashes.

Another group, the Tapicong Datalcolon Farmers Association. also launched then, with the help of DSWD-11, its general merchandise business in Barangay Bacungan in Magsaysay, Davao del Sur.

The 39th IB and the provincial police offices in Cotabato and Davao del Sur were cited by national officials who accompanied President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. during his visit to Digos City last month for having been instrumental in setting free from ruthless armed groups the highland barangays at the border of the two provinces. FR AFTER CARE PROGRAM| 11 Former Rebels (FRs) graduated Elementary and Junior High School through Alternative Learning System (ALS) as Department of Education (DepEd) Davao del Sur conducted ALS Graduation Ceremony on July 20, 2023 held at Davao del Sur Coliseum, Digos City.

ALS is DepEd’s initiative which is a parallel learning system that provides a practical option to the existing formal instruction to those who does not have access to formal education.

Said FRs started to undergo ALS while they were enrolled to Davao Sur's Tupad Pangako Program as part of their reorientation and transformational process in preparation for their reintegration back to their respective communities.

Despite the TPP's culmination, the designated ALS coordinator continuously visited and monitored the FRs for them to complete all the needed requirements to graduate.

Ang nasabing aktibidad ay inisyatiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. upang matulungan ang mga lokal na producer at magsasaka na magkaroon ng mataas na kita kasabay ng pagbibigay ng mura at kalidad na produkto para sa mga mamimili.
