📢 UPDATED LINK: Call for Expression of Interest for the CRAFTS Project

DTI-EMB and TFO Canada invite Philippine SMEs in the processed food sector to express their interest in the Climate Resilient Agri-Food Trade Promotion Support (CRAFTS) Project.

This five-year initiative, funded by Global Affairs Canada, will support selected SMEs in expanding their exports to the Canadian market through free training, coaching, market intelligence, buyer linkages, and other tailored assistance.

From coconut-based products to food, wellness items, handicrafts, and fashion, local enterprises in CALABARZON turned the weeklong COCONUTPhilippines featuring KALAKAL CALABARZON 2026 trade fair into a strong showcase of what their businesses can offer.

Held from August 17–23 at Festival Mall Alabang, the trade fair brought together 61 exhibitors who generated a combined P 17.58 million in sales, P 10.69 million in direct sales and another P 6.90 million in booked orders.

But the gains went beyond the sales floor. The event connected coconut farmers and MSMEs with consumers, institutional buyers, distributors, and retailers, opening doors to new markets and potential long-term business opportunities.

From local harvests to value-added products, CALABARZON’s coconut farmers and entrepreneurs are proving that with the right market access, local products can go further.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through its Regional Operations Group (ROG), in partnership with BDO Foundation, Inc., officially launched a training program designed to strengthen the capabilities, business knowledge, and financial resilience of micro-entrepreneurs nationwide on September 2, 2026, in Salcedo Village, Makati City.

The program adopts a train-the-trainer approach, equipping DTI trainers with learning modules and practical tools that can be cascaded to micro-entrepreneurs through the Negosyo Center network. It aims to strengthen entrepreneurs’ business decision-making, financial management, and overall resilience.

The launching was led by DTI Secretary Cristina Roque and BDO Unibank Chairperson Teresita Sy-Coson along with other key officials and executives.

The impact of micro, small, and medium enterprises extends far beyond the economy. For Remedios Biag of Kuzina ni Trixia from Palawan, the Kapatid Mentor-ME MME (KMME-MME) program gave her the confidence to use her business to lift up local communities.
