Filipinos are making their mark!

FILIPINO-AMERICAN MAYORS IN THE UNITED STATES (APRIL 2026)
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Several Filipino Americans are currently serving as mayors across the United States, including leaders of some of America’s largest and most diverse cities. Their growing presence in local government highlights the increasing political influence of the Filipino-American community nationwide.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
MAJOR U.S. CITIES
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

β€’ Todd Gloria – Mayor of San Diego
Currently serving his second term as the 37th mayor of San Diego, the 8th-largest city in the United States. Elected in 2020, he became the city’s first person of color and first openly gay mayor.

β€’ Gina Ortiz Jones – Mayor of San Antonio
Sworn in on June 18, 2025, as the 184th mayor of San Antonio, the 7th-largest U.S. city. She is the city’s first Filipino-American mayor, first Asian-American woman mayor, and first openly le***an mayor.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
CALIFORNIA CITIES
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

California currently has one of the highest concentrations of Filipino-American mayors in the country, especially in the Bay Area and Southern California.

β€’ Juslyn Manalo – Mayor of Daly City
Daly City is known for having one of the largest Filipino communities in the United States.

β€’ Lynda P. Johnson – Mayor of Cerritos
Recognized as the first Filipina mayor of Cerritos.

β€’ Buenaflor Nicolas – Mayor of South San Francisco

β€’ Joanne Del Rosario – Mayor of Colma

β€’ Melissa Ramoso – City council member who has previously served as mayor of Artesia under the city’s rotating leadership system.

β€’ Jed Leano – Mayor of Claremont

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
WHY THIS MATTERS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The Filipino-American community is one of the fastest-growing Asian-American groups in U.S. politics. Representation in mayoral offices reflects the increasing role Filipino Americans play in governance, public policy, healthcare, education, and community leadership across the United States.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
⚠️ Disclaimer
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

This list is based on publicly available information and verified reports as of April 2026. Some U.S. cities operate under rotating mayoral systems where council members periodically assume the title of mayor. Positions and officeholders may change following local elections, appointments, or council reorganizations.
