(๐ฅ๐๐ฆ๐) and in coordination with the ๐ฃ๐ต๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ ๐๐ป๐๐๐ถ๐๐๐๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐น ๐๐ป๐ด๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ (๐ฃ๐๐๐) โ ๐๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ฝ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ, successfully conducted the โ๐พ๐๐๐ก๐ก๐๐ฃ๐๐๐จ ๐๐ฃ ๐พ๐ค๐ฃ๐๐ง๐๐ฉ๐ ๐พ๐ค๐ฃ๐จ๐ฉ๐ง๐ช๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ ๐๐๐ข๐๐ฃ๐๐งโ at the RCSI Guest House in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte.
Facilitated by Engr. Adrian Servillon, the seminar was attended by 49 construction industry professionals and stakeholders, including representatives from the Engineering Offices of the Iligan City Local Government Unit (LGU), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 2nd District Engineering Office, the Mindanao State University โ Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) College of Engineering, and local government contractors in Iligan City.
The technical session focused on concrete quality, durability, and construction performance, with particular emphasis on hot-weather concreting. Key topics included the causes of concrete cracking during pre- and post-construction stages, common concrete surface defects, and the factors affecting concrete performance. The discussion underscored the critical role of proper planning, material selection, concrete handling and placement, curing, and quality control in preventing defects and minimizing construction risks.
The seminar also presented practical preventive measures and consolidated the major causes of concrete defects, enabling participants to apply appropriate quality-control practices to actual construction projects.
Overall, the program demonstrated the value of multi-sector collaboration among government agencies, academic institutions, contractors, professional organizations, and industry partners in strengthening technical competency and promoting best practices in concrete construction. Through programs such as this, CMDF and its partners contribute to the development of a competent construction workforce capable of delivering safer, more durable, and higher-quality infrastructure in the Philippines.
