By switching off our lights, we symbolized our commitment to energy conservation, climate action, and a more sustainable future.
This moment is more than just an hour of darkness, it is a movement that encourages awareness, responsibility, and collective change.

The countdown begins. 🌍✨

As Earth Hour approaches, this video reminds us that change starts with us. In just one hour, we can make a powerful statement. Turning off the lights and turning on our commitment to protect the planet.

But why stop at one hour? Here are simple yet impactful commitments we can start practicing today:

• Use energy-efficient LEDs instead of incandescent bulbs (save up to 136.88 kg CO₂/year)
• Segregate at least 1 kg of mixed waste daily (182.5 kg CO₂/year)
• Join clean-up drives and help collect waste (100 kg CO₂/year)
• Plant and care for trees or start a garden (21.77 kg CO₂/year)
• Compost biodegradable waste daily (109.5 kg CO₂/year)
• Go paperless—one transaction at a time (10.585 kg CO₂/year)
• Walk or bike instead of using gasoline vehicles (73 kg CO₂/year)
• Support green building features (solar panels, vertical gardens, etc.)
• Transition to renewable energy sources
• Invest in low-carbon appliances and machines
• Promote electric vehicles (EVs) and charging stations

Be part of the movement. This coming Earth Hour, let’s go beyond the hour and make sustainability a lifestyle. 💚

Forests and economies is the theme of the 2026 International Day of Forests, celebrating the essential roles of forests in driving economic prosperity.

As YES-O members and learners of Gen. Pio Del Pilar National High School, we see forests not only as part of nature but as part of our future. Forests give us clean water, protect our farms, and provide resources that sustain communities. They are more than trees—they are life and livelihood.

Through our tree planting, and environmental projects, we learn that caring for forests also means caring for the economy. By choosing sustainable practices today, we help build opportunities for tomorrow."
