The 'Partnership for Democratic Local Governance in Southeast Asia' (DELGOSEA) has developed from a project co-funded by the European Commission and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, beginning in March 2010. DELGOSEA is a network of cities from five countries – Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam – with the aim to share knowledge and replicate best practices on good local governance

for a better life of our people. This network is supported by Local Government Associations and various other stakeholders from government, civil society, academia and media. The network is managed by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Philippines and UCLG-ASPAC

Any local government unit that is interested in improving its local services be it on people’s participation, institutional governance, urban environment or fiscal management, can join.

An interesting and useful initiative by ASEAN:

The Global Child Forum on Southeast Asia, held in Kuala Lumpur this year, was a day of inspiration and action on children's rights in the region. Specifically, the Forum focused on the role of business to be a driver of change in the lives of children. ASEAN Secretary-General, H.E. Le Luong Minh spoke at the forum about the region’s multi-sectoral initiatives to protect children and the importance of cooperating with the private sector to advance children’s rights. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) held its 28th and 29th Summit at the National Convention Centre (NCC) in Vientiane, Lao PDR last 06-08 September 2016 with a theme of “Turning Vision into Reality for a Dynamic ASEAN Community”. The Summit was attended by heads of State from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam.
