On Monday, 15 June 2026, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Manila, Ambassador Regina K. Aondona, accompanied by officials of the Embassy, paid a condolence visit to Ateneo de Manila University on the unfortunate drowning incident that lead to the loss of lives of Mr. Chukwuemeka Divine Adili and Rene Clert N. Baterbonia.
During the visit, Ambassador Aondona conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Government and people of Nigeria to the bereaved family, friends, and members of the Nigerian community affected by the unfortunate loss. She offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased and comfort for all those mourning their passing.
The Embassy’s delegation also met with the representatives of the President of Ateneo de Manila University, Fr. Roberto C. Yap, SJ, and expressed appreciation to the University administration for its support and assistance during this difficult period.
The Embassy remains committed to supporting Nigerian nationals in the Philippines and extends its deepest sympathies to the family of the departed souls.
