In line with the Provincial Government of Sarangani and LGU Maitum continuing commitment to strengthen local efforts in the fight against illegal drugs and enhance the implementation of our anti-drug abuse initiatives, the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) participated the Collaborative undertakings with PADAC to Best LGU in the Implementation of Anti- Drug Abuse Program in the City Government of San Juan and Baguio and Learning Exchange with the Office of the President – Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) on November 24-28, 2025.

This capacity-building initiative aims to provide valuable insights and practical knowledge on effective and sustainable anti-drug programs, particularly in the following areas:
• Collaborative Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation (CBDRP);
• Livelihood and Reintegration Support for Recovering Persons Who Used Drugs
• (RPWUDs);
• Bahay Silangan Reformation Center Operations;
• Sustained Enforcement & Oversight, and Integrated Institutional Coordination; and
• Other innovative anti-drug interventions and strategies.

The Municipal Administrator- Mr Ruben R Balanag, MADAC Focal Person- Ms Marife Cambel/ Anti-Drug Abuse Program In-Charge, participated in the said activity. This serve as an opportunity for cross-learning and collaboration between local government units in line with the Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy (PADS).

The LGU of MAITUM,Sarangani Province observes Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week from November 17 to 21 with the theme “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Kalusugan ay Pinapahalagahan, Droga ay Inaayawan.”

The week reminds us that preventing substance abuse is a shared responsibility. Families, communities, and institutions must work together to promote healthy lifestyles, support rehabilitation, and create a safe environment for all.

By taking part in programs and initiatives, each of us contributes to a stronger, drug-free, and resilient Gensan.

MAITUM RETAINS DRUG-CLEARED STATUS IN ALL BARANGAYS

The Municipality of Maitum has successfully retained their drug-cleared status all its 19 barangays under the leadership of Municipal Mayor James Mark B Reganit and the hardwork and commitment of Punong Barangays and secretaries during the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing Program deliberation held last September 30, 2025
At Habi Hotel, Koronadal City.

The confirmation was made by the Regional Oversight Committee composed of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region XII, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region XII, Department of Health (DOH) Region XII, and the Philippine National Police (PNP) Region XII. After thorough evaluation, the committee reaffirmed Maitum’s compliance with the standards and requirements of a drug-cleared barangays .

The Local Government of Maitum remains steadfast in its commitment to uphold peace and order initiatives and to strengthen preventive programs against illegal drugs, ensuring a better future for its citizens.
