PNP CLAMPS DOWN ON LOOSE FI****MS, 2 GUN RUNNERS ARRESTED
Loose fi****ms meant to fuel criminal activities were intercepted by police operatives in Davao de Oro on Sunday, cutting short an illegal fi****ms transaction and reinforcing the Philippine National Police’s intensified campaign against gun-related crimes.
Under the leadership of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) sustained OPLAN PAGLALANSAG OMEGA, resulting in the arrest of two male Filipino gun runners during a buy-bust operation conducted at around 1:21 PM on January 25, 2026, in Barangay Tambongon, Pantukan, Davao de Oro.
The operation was carried out by the CIDG Davao del Norte Provincial Field Unit, with support from the PNP Special Action Force and territorial police units. Confiscated from the suspects were four loose fi****ms, including one light weapon—a caliber 5.56 Hydra-Matic M16A1 rifle—and three caliber .45 pistols identified as Re*****on, STI Cat Custom, and C**t MK IV. Also seized were assorted magazines, live ammunition, and a government-issued vehicle used in transporting the fi****ms.
Police authorities said the arrested suspects, both of legal age and residents of Barangay La Union, San Isidro, Davao Oriental, were caught while allegedly trading and delivering the fi****ms without permit, license, or authority to own, possess, or trade the items. The seized fi****ms were valued at PhP 280,000.00, and the suspects are believed to be involved in fi****ms trafficking activities operating in Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao del Norte.
PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. underscored the impact of the operation, saying, “This case shows our continuing efforts to stop gun runners and prevent loose fi****ms from being used in crimes. Hindi kami papayag na kumalat ang ilegal na baril sa ating mga komunidad.”
He added that sustained law enforcement actions remain crucial, stating, “We will continue to pursue those who profit from illegal fi****ms and place communities at risk. Patuloy ang aming pagbabantay para sa kaligtasan ng mamamayan.”
The successful operation reflects the PNP Focused Agenda, a guiding framework of transformation designed to make police service more reliable and responsive. In this case, the key priority of Enhanced Managing Police Operations is evident in the focused action taken against individuals engaged in illegal fi****ms trade.
As the PNP intensifies its campaign against gun runners and loose fi****ms under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it continues to assure the public of ‘Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.’
