CALL FOR ENTRIES for Mahinog Song Video Contest

We are inviting media professionals, social media influencers, content creators, bloggers, photographers, videographers and everyone to be part of this contest.

The contest is to create a music video that beautifully captures the essence and allure of Mahinog’s culture, assets, people and tourism. While using the municipal song as the background music, it captivates viewers on a visual presentation that defines the character, richness and life of Mahinog known as “Lungsod nga Bahandianon.”

How to join:

Submit the following documents to the office of the Secretary to the Sanggunian.

1. Letter of intent
2. Concept proposal
3. Story board
4. Equipment to be used
5. Human resources

The deadline of submission is on September 30, 2024.

Selection process:

• Entries will be evaluated based on submitted concept proposal.

• A shortlist of three entries (finalists) will be selected by the jury.

• The finalists will submit a Mahinog Song video, which will be judged on its creativity as well as how well it presents and relates to Mahinog Song.

• Participants should only use videos or photos that they own. If there are copyright infractions, they will be eliminated.

About the prizes:

a. The winner will receive P50,000 in cash, while the two non-winning entries will get a consolation prize of P10,000 each.

b. The winning and non-winning videos will become the property of the Municipal Government of Mahinog and will be used in their tourism campaign. It will likewise function as the Municipality of Mahinog's official music video and be played during public gatherings where singing of the municipal song is mandatory.

Moratorium on motorela franchises up to 125 units

The Sangguniang Bayan of Mahinog unanimously approved on Monday an ordinance that increases the cap on motorela franchises from 110 to 125 units.

The additional fifteen units will be awarded to the applicants on the waiting list as recorded in the office of secretary to the Sanggunian.

Applicants have thirty days from notice to submit their requirements to the office of the secretary, provided that the motorcycle and tricycle units are ready for inspection. If they fail to do so within thirty days, their slots will become vacant and open to future applicants on a first come, first-served basis.

A person who currently holds a franchise granted by the Sangguniang Bayan of Mahinog is not eligible for another franchise.

The committee on transportation, which is made up of Councilors Kindred Jajalla as chairperson, Asterio A. Mabale, Jr. and Johannah C. Arat as members, sponsored the ordinance.

THE bad smell of the helmets that habalhabal passengers are required to wear has drawn public attention, raising worries that it may cause serious hygiene problems and discomfort for other passengers. This resulted in the formulation of the ordinance requiring habalhabal drivers to provide their passengers a disposable shower cap to cover their hair before wearing a helmet. This ordinance was authored by Councilor Kindred C. Jajalla and unanimously approved by the Committees on Transportation and Health during a committee hearing held this morning, July 24, 2024.

THE Sangguniang Bayan presided over by Vice Mayor Nerio Y. Galochino has unanimously approved on Monday July 8, 2024 the ordinance for the establishment of a proper sewage treatment and septage management system in the municipality of Mahinog.

The said ordinance, authored by Councilor Kaiser Abao, outlines the main objectives of septage management program, which include protecting the sources of water supply such as groundwater, surface water and seawater, in order to prevent water pollution and safeguard public health.

Within one (1) year from effectivity of the ordinance, all commercial, industrial, institutional, and governmental entities that are mandated to have a wastewater treatment plant shall comply.

If a business owner does not have the required clearances and licenses, such as discharge permits and environmental sanitation clearances, they will not be granted a renewed business permit, according to the ordinance.
