Barangay Carangcang, Magarao, Cam. Sur

Barangay Carangcang, Magarao, Cam. Sur "Serbisyong Makatao, Barangay sa Pagasenso" It was named by the Spaniards during their occupation in our country way back 1606. Sitio Sagrada was lately named.

HISTORY OF THE BARANGAY CARANGCANG

The barangay name of Carangcang originated from a palay variety commonly called before as “KINARANGKANG” abundantly growing and giving a good yield because of its tillering ability particularly cultured in this place. It was called by this name because the appearances of the roots were so spreaded around its base and a little bit lifted from the ground w

here it stood. Our former ancestors used to grow this variety of palay in their kaingins as their source of food. It would interest us to know that before these were only five original family named as pioneer residents of this barangay, the family name was Armendi, Aspe, Estefani, Alsol and Ramirez, a Spanish mestizo. They all lived far apart from each other along the narrow trail from the town poblacion towards this place. This place was still covered with thick forest inhabited by several varieties of wild animals. Its statistical area was 687 hectares. Some popular places in this barrio are Eraya, Ilahod, Manayao, Ki Gona, Baganito, Magsaromo, Ki Lengua, May Tabog and Talisay.
