It was created simultaneous with the creation of the Municipality of Maganoy now Shariff Aguak Municipality by virtue of E.O. No. 47 on September 11, 1963 by President Diosdado Macapagal. The Zaman Family, a native-family of the barangay since birth narrated that in 1949, a construction company named EKA Construction constructed a bridge project. The company was composed of Tausogs and Christian w
orkers. Surprisingly, all the workers were sick, which the residents believed the doings of the Saytans or Satanas in the area, because the place is known as stronghold sanctuary placed of the evils or devils. A certain Manobo Tribe, a known follower of the late Hadji Kasan or Shariff Aguak who used to commute daily from Kuloy to Satan just to get “Ubod”, a young rattan in the Mountains of Satan which commonly used for viand of the residents, was ordered by Hadji Kasan or Shariff Aguak to cut a tree named “Manili” and died instantaneously after cutting the tree believed to have hit the Saytans or Satanas, because the big trees served as their shelters. Because of the situation, the residents used to have kanduli weekly every Friday to seek mercy from Allah to eradicate the Saytans or Satanas. After a decade, the residents live in peace and tranquillity in the locality. The line of leadership and successions of the barangay are as follows: 1. Datu Mengkeg Guad - as Tenente De Barrio 2. Pedtebo Matiman Pegualan - as Tenente De Barrio 3. Kage Mohamad Nooh - as Barangay Captain 4. Datu Peka Mangacop - as Barangay Captain 5. Abdulmanap Malaguial - as Punong Barangay When Punong Barangay and ABC President Abdulamanap Malaguial ran for Sangguniang Bayan Member of the Municipality of Datu Hoffer, Maguindanao after serving for consecutive terms, the leadership of the barangay was assumed by his son, Datukon Namli Malaguial, after he was elected to the position in the year 2007. Malaguial served as Punong Barangay until August 2017 because he was appointed Sangguniang Bayan Member of the Municipality of Shariff Aguak, replacing his late brother Hadie N. Malaguial, who was not able to took his oath and assumed office as a result of his untimely death. By operation of law, Barangay Kagawad Theng P. Uyag, Rank No. 1 in the Barangay elections assumed the office of the Punong Barangay, it was during the incumbency of Punong Barangay Theng P. Uyag and of course with able support of the Honorable Datukon N. Malaguial and the community in general that Barangay Satan was declared as Drug-Free Barangay by the oversight Committee. In the May 14, 2018 Barangay and SK Elections, Turaipe Namli Abdulmanap, unopposed candidate, for the position of Punong Barangay assumed the office. The present leaderships aims to transform the Barangay Satan towards good local governance into a progressive and developed Barangay Local Government Unit. Today, Barangay Satan has a total population of 2,320 based on the 2015 Census of Population and a total Land Area of 1,326.00 has. Satan is a barangay in the municipality of Shariff Aguak, in the province of Maguindanao. Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 2,320. This represented 7.32% of the total population of Shariff Aguak.
