On July 17, 2025, at 11:36 AM in Tacloban City, Leyte, operatives of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 8 arrested a 32-year-old man, alias "Renzo," pursuant to a warrant of arrest.

"Renzo" is facing charges for violation of Article 315 (Swindling/Estafa) of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012), with bail set at Php12,000.00.

Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, commended the operatives for their continued dedication to tracking down and apprehending wanted persons. He also stated, "No cybercriminal can hide from the law forever. This operation reflects our commitment to holding online scammers accountable. We urge everyone to remain cautious when transacting online and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest ACG office."
