Conversations become more meaningful when the people who make decisions and the people who carry them out sit at the same table.
This was the atmosphere during the recent Division Management Committee (ManCom) Meeting of the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Tagum City, as division officials, school heads, and personnel welcomed key officials from the Regional Office for a day of updates, discussions, and shared commitments.
Led by Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Alona C. Uy and Assistant SDS Neil Michael A. De Asis, the meeting provided a venue for the regional and division offices to look at current accomplishments, discuss emerging concerns, and align efforts toward better support for schools, teachers, and learners.
The presence of the regional team, led by Assistant Regional Director Rebonfamil “Bong” Baguio, Chiefs Jean Aldeguer, Jenielito Atillo, Warlito Hua, Nelma Lyn Barnija, and Loradel Baricaua, created an opportunity for concerns to be discussed more openly and for issues affecting schools to be brought closer to those who can help address them.
The meeting also brought good news for the Tagum City education community.
Atillo announced the official merging of Magugpo Pilot Imelda Elementary School SPED Center and Rizal Elementary School.
Following the merger, the two schools will operate as one institution under the name Magugpo Pilot Imelda Elementary School - SPED Center.
ARD Baguio formally handed over the Certificate of Merging, marking an important milestone in the continuing development of the schools and the services they provide to learners.
Aldeguer presented the learning outcomes of Tagum City, covering key areas such as reading, language, mathematics, NAT results, and ELLN.
The presentation also highlighted areas where the division has made notable achievements in Journalism, the Festival of Talents, and the National Schools Press Conference.
Updates were also shared on sports development, health and nutrition, personnel matters, professional development, and budget utilization, reflecting the division's holistic approach to supporting schools and learners.
Tagum City Chiefs Josefina B. Palaca and Christine C. Bagacay presented initiatives aimed at strengthening support systems for schools and teachers.
Among the initiatives discussed were efforts to improve governance processes, address teacher workload concerns, and introduce Edumetric, a division innovation intended to make teacher monitoring and support more organized and responsive.
These efforts reflect the division's continuing search for practical solutions to the day-to-day challenges faced by its schools and personnel.
SDS Uy acknowledged the many responsibilities carried by school heads and division personnel and encouraged everyone to remain resilient and focused despite the demands of the work.
