INSIDE THIS ISSUE: Channeling their inner physicists and engineers, the Grade 11 students successfully demonstrated how their hydraulic system-based miniature structures work—from drawbridges and cranes to lifters and parking structures with ascending and descending floors. 👏👏👏

Three pairs of students also presented their project blueprints, with the presentations serving as their major final task in General Science for the first term. The activity was held at the Grade 11 Josiah-Jabez Homeroom on August 24, 2026. 🤩🤩🤩

INSIDE THIS ISSUE: This new issue highlights the commendable performance of our STEM students and the entire Senior High School Department in the various competitions and events held as part of the school's Nutrition Month celebration. It also showcases the continued winning legacy of the STEM class in the Search for the Cleanest Classroom.

In addition, snippets of classroom activities from our Senior High School Science classes are featured in the paper's new section, Quick Reads. 🤩

⚡WATT WERE THEY THINKING? 💀🔌
Here are the Top 3 outputs from the "Dumb Ways to Die" Short Reel-Making Task of our Grade 11 students, centered on one of the major topics in their General Science class: Utilization of Electricity.

Inspired by the popular trend in which creators share clips of unfortunate incidents experienced by people, this activity challenged our students to portray unsafe electrical practices commonly observed among many individuals, particularly fellow young people. These unsafe habits—including overloading electrical circuits, using damaged insulation, handling electricity in damp conditions, faulty wiring, and improper electrical use that may lead to electrocution—highlight the hazards and risks associated with poor electrical safety practices.

To make the task even more challenging, each reel was required to be only up to 20 seconds long, pushing students to tell a complete and meaningful story within a very limited time. This constraint encouraged them to think critically, communicate creatively, and maximize every second of their videos while still delivering a clear safety message.

Through their wit, creativity, and storytelling skills, the students produced outputs that were not only engaging but also highly relatable, contextual, and educational.

"DISPLAYING LIGHT AND SOUND THROUGH EVERY CUT"
To demonstrate their knowledge and appreciation of the various technologies and innovations that use light and sound—artistically and resourcefully—the Grade 11 students completed their collage-making activity on July 23, 2026, at the school laboratory. Using cutout photos from old newspapers, magazines, brochures, and other printed materials, the groups combined their creativity to produce vertical, poster-style collages.

STEM VS. STOICHIOMETRY: CALCULATED. MEASURED. CONQUERED ⚖️🧪🏆
For five and a half hours straight, our Grade 12 STEM students tackled higher-level calculations, rigorous measurements and weighing procedures, and the careful handling of chemicals as they completed their major task in General Chemistry 2. The activity revolved around Stoichiometric Calculations on Concentrations of Solutions, including the actual Preparation of Solutions, with each group assigned its own solution to prepare.

This was perhaps the most challenging—and arguably the most hazardous—laboratory activity the class has undertaken so far, including all of their laboratory work in Grade 11. Yet, as always, they rose to the challenge and delivered outstanding results!

Congratulations, Team TE-TE! Keep up the great work! 🤩

PUKSAANG PANG-PHYSICS IS REAL!!! 🤯⚛️

The groups were tasked with constructing their own Kinematics problems and then daring the other groups to solve them. From a tricky displacement-based problem involving a landing fighter jet to analyzing the free-fall motion of a Physics test paper tossed into the sky, the "puksaan" among the Grade 12 STEM groups was both fun and fiercely competitive!

Then their teacher, Sir Lloyd Ericson C. Rodriguez, added fuel to the fire by challenging every group to solve a problem that required finding the solutions to two separate kinematics problems first before obtaining all the data needed to create a one-plane illustration showing two pairs of quantity relationships.

Wait... what? 😵 Yes, that!

Kudos to our Grade 12 STEM class for successfully overcoming the challenge of their first performance task in General Physics 1.

Kaya pa? Kakayanin, for sure! 💪📚⚡

Here are some glimpses of our STEM ates and kuyas tackling higher-level free-fall problems in their General Physics 1 class.

Can you feel both the chaos and the beauty of Physics? Amid the scribbled equations, busy calculators, collaborative discussions, and presentations lies the real beauty of learning—challenging minds, strengthening teamwork, and building confidence one problem at a time.

It's no magic—just old cardboard, some strings and sticks, resourcefulness, teamwork, and pure science! 👏👏👏

Look at the impressive output of one of the Grade 11 groups (composed of Academic and Tech-Pro students) as they demonstrate their enhanced understanding and application of the concepts of translational and rotational motion through one of their performance tasks in General Science under the supervision of their teacher, Sir Lloyd Ericson C. "MOTION IN ACTION: A Hands-on Introduction to Ergonomics!"
To introduce the concept of ergonomics through the principles of translational and rotational motion, the General Science classes composed of Grade 11 Tech-Pro and Grade 11 Academic students designed and constructed functional models, prototypes, and projects of their choice. Through this hands-on activity, they explored how different types of motion contribute to the design and operation of everyday objects while showcasing their creativity, imagination, and resourcefulness.

From recreating a miniature saucer ride inspired by a famous theme park using old cartons and wooden sticks to building a moving toy car from plastic containers, bottle caps, used wires, and batteries, the students maximized indigenous and recyclable materials in bringing their ideas to life.

More than demonstrating concepts in physics, the activity provided the students with an initial appreciation of ergonomics by encouraging them to think about functionality, efficiency, and purposeful design.

And all the groups did an outstanding job. 👏👏👏

What an exciting first step toward understanding the principles of ergonomics!
