MACALELON, QUEZON – A three-day Training Workshop on the Updating of the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) of the Municipality of Macalelon was successfully conducted on May 26–28, 2026. The activity aimed to enhance the capacity of local officials and stakeholders in formulating a responsive, strategic, and evidence-based development plan that will guide the municipality's growth and development in the coming years.

The workshop was facilitated by the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (OPPDC), led by EnP Myra Rojas, together with the OPPDC technical team. Participants included key local government officials and department heads headed by Mayor Artem Mamburao, Vice Mayor Danilo Ilao, and Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) Mark Rodelas.

During the workshop, participants reviewed the municipality's existing development strategies, assessed current socio-economic conditions, and identified priority programs, projects, and activities aligned with the community's development goals.

The Comprehensive Development Plan serves as the primary medium-term planning document of the local government unit. It translates the community's vision into concrete actions and investment priorities, ensuring that development initiatives are coordinated, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of the people. Updating the CDP is essential in addressing emerging challenges, maximizing development opportunities, and promoting inclusive growth for all sectors of the municipality.

The successful conduct of the workshop reflects the commitment of the Municipal Government of Macalelon and the Provincial Government of Quezon to strengthen local governance and advance sustainable development through effective planning.

The Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) of Quezon Province, chaired by Engr. Russell C. Narte, EnP, successfully conducted its 2nd Quarter 2026 Meeting and Convening of the 2027 CBMS Provincial Coordinating Board on May 21, 2026 at the PSA Quezon Office Conference Room, Lucena City.

The meeting highlighted key discussions on statistical programs, economic updates, and preparations for the 2027 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) implementation in the province.

The Provincial Government of Quezon, through the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (OPPDC), officially entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the University of the Philippines – National Center for Transportation Studies Foundation, Inc. (UP-NCTSFI) to strengthen evidence-based road safety research and policy development in the province.

The collaboration aims to analyze road crash data involving motorcycles, pedestrians, and other road users to identify crash patterns, contributing factors, and local road safety risks. The study will support the development of data-driven interventions and policies to improve transport safety and traffic management across Quezon Province.

As part of the initial implementation, the research team conducted a courtesy visit to the Office of the Governor and initial visits to the LGUs of Sariaya, Atimonan, Gumaca, and Lucena City on May 18–19, 2026.

EnP Jo Marice R. Salonga, Assistant Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, together with Renee T. Lagos and Zairine N. Gajo of the Research and Statistics Division of the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (OPPDC-Quezon), as well as Planning Officers from various Local Government Units (LGUs) and other participants, successfully completed the 5-Day Provincial Level Training on R Programming and Data Management using Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Data conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority – Quezon.

The training equipped participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in data management, processing, analysis, and the generation of statistical tables and indicators using R Programming.

Discussions covered data handling, database management, data visualization, and the creation of reproducible outputs to support evidence-based planning and governance. The activity also emphasized the vital role of accurate and reliable data in strengthening local development planning, policy formulation, and informed decision-making.

Dahil dito, umabot sa 4.1% ang average inflation rate ng rehiyon mula Enero hanggang Abril 2026.

Kabilang sa mga pangunahing nag-ambag sa pagtaas ng inflation ang transportasyon, partikular sa diesel at gasolina, gayundin ang housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, restaurants at accommodation services.

The Regional Development Council (RDC) CALABARZON successfully conducted the Training on Technical Secretariat Services on April 28–29, 2026, at The Bayleaf Cavite. The program was designed to sharpen the competencies of technical secretariat personnel, focusing on the technical, administrative, and coordination functions essential for robust organizational support and effective governance.

Ms. Dianne Mae Almazar of the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator participated in the two-day event. With technical discussions and practical approaches, the training provided Ms. Almazar and other regional delegates with the tools necessary to enhance service delivery and organizational efficiency in their home offices.

The Provincial Land Use Committee (PLUC), chaired by Engr. Russell Narte, EnP, favorably endorsed for approval the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) CY 2021–2040 of Patnanungan during the deliberation held on May 7, 2026 at Queen Margarette Hotel - Downtown.

Mayor Marie Claire Natividad together with MPDC Wilmer Aman presented the municipality’s Land Use Plan before the members of the committee.

The CLUP serves as a vital roadmap for the sustainable growth and development of Patnanungan, outlining policy directions, zoning strategies, and the appropriate allocation and utilization of land resources in support of the municipality’s long-term vision and development goals.
