Recognizing the importance of continued support for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) even after their release, JO2 Jessica Marquez facilitated the referral of one (1) released PDL to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for possible employment and livelihood assistance.

The referral aimed to connect the released PDL with available DOLE programs and opportunities that can help provide a sustainable source of income, promote self-reliance, and support a productive transition back into the community. Through this initiative, the PDL was given an opportunity to access assistance that can contribute to rebuilding a stable and meaningful life after release.

With the guidance of JSINSP ALLAIN M. ABASTILLAS, Acting Warden, JO1 Sheriz Anne R. Tesalona, KKDK Facilitator, conducted Module 17 of the Katatagan, Kalusugan at Damayan ng Komunidad (KKDK) Jail-Based Rehabilitation Program entitled “Kalakasan.” The session was participated in by nine (9) Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).

The module focused on strengthening the participants’ physical, emotional, and mental resilience in facing challenges and making positive changes in their lives. Through guided discussions and interactive activities, the PDLs were encouraged to recognize their inner strengths, develop a positive outlook, and build confidence in their ability to overcome difficulties.

ABASTILLAS, Acting Warden, conducted a Learning and Development session on “Understanding GenAI: The Power of Creation,” facilitated by JO1 Jose Gabriel Latosa.

The session introduced personnel to the basic concepts and practical applications of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), highlighting its potential to support creativity, productivity, communication, and various work-related tasks. Personnel were also encouraged to use GenAI responsibly and effectively while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professional judgment in the performance of their duties.

Promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and active participation among personnel, the Lucena City District Jail – Female Dormitory, under the leadership of JSINSP ALLAIN M. ABASTILLAS, Acting Warden, conducted a Learning and Development session on Pickleball Game Mechanics, facilitated by JO2 Ma. Carmela Manicad.

The session introduced personnel to the basic rules, proper serving techniques, scoring system, court boundaries, and essential game mechanics of pickleball. Through the activity, personnel gained a better understanding of the game while promoting physical activity, coordination, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among colleagues.
