Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro — In a remarkable demonstration of public service and community solidarity, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, through the Southern Luzon Command led by LTGEN CERILO C BALAORO JR PA, and represented bv COMMODORE MARCO N BUENA PN, Deputy Commander, collaborated with the Tactical Operations Wing Reserve of Northern Luzon under the Command of BGEN MICHAEL ODYLON L. ROMERO, PAF (RES), together with the Local Government Unit of Mansalay conducted a comprehensive Community Outreach Program for the Mangyan community in Brgy. Panaytayan on 16 May 2026.

This initiative showcased the collective efforts of the AFP’s regular and reserve forces, in partnership with local government agencies, to deliver essential healthcare and government services directly to underserved indigenous communities.

During the program, a total of 106 individuals from 26 Mangyan families benefited from free medical and dental services, including consultations, basic treatments, medicines, vitamins, dental care, and circumcision procedures. Furthermore, approximately 102 food packs and hygiene kits were distributed to individuals and families in need. Healthcare personnel from the SOLCOM’s Camp Nakar Station Hospital, Camp Nakar Dental Dispensary, and the Municipal Health Office of Sta. Cruz delivered these vital services, significantly addressing the community’s medical needs and enhancing their overall welfare.

The outreach mission, was further strengthened, through the support of the Mansalay LGU, led by Vice Mayor Fer Maliwanag who facilitated a “Serbisyo Caravan” aimed at improving access to critical government programs and assistance. The caravan included the distribution of rice and other essential services, intended to support residents in remote indigenous areas.

Beyond addressing immediate health and welfare concerns, this outreach initiative promoted public health awareness, resilience, and reinforced collaboration among the military, local government, and the community. In his address, LTGEN BALAORO JR PA, emphasized that the success of this initiative reflects the power of unity and cooperation among the AFP, reserve units, and local government in providing compassionate and responsive service to the people.

He further highlighted that initiatives of this nature are essential in strengthening Civil-Military relations and embody a shared commitment of all stakeholders to inclusive community development, humanitarian service, and nation-building.

Through its ongoing Civil-Military Operations initiatives, the Southern Luzon Command remains committed to building meaningful partnerships with local communities, government agencies, and stakeholders, ensuring that no sector—especially vulnerable indigenous communities—remains underserved.
