Lucena South I Elementary School successfully participated and celebrated the National Arts Month 2026 with the theme โAni ng Sining sa Paaralan: Katotohanan at Giting ng Batang Malikhainโ, as well as the Valentineโs Day Celebration on February 13, 2026, at the school covered court. Both activities aimed to promote creativity, appreciation for the arts, and the holistic development of learners through meaningful artistic engagement.
The program began with the assembly and parade of colors, participated in by Kinder to Grade 6 pupils, setting a lively and exciting atmosphere. This was followed by an opening prayer led by Mrs. Norita S. Veluya. The singing of the national anthem conducted by Mrs. Almira R. Domirez reinforced pride and patriotism among the learners.
The school principal, Mr. Audones B. Dueรฑas delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing the importance of arts in nurturing creativity, discipline, and self-expression among learners. The School MAPEH Coordinator, Mrs. Edlyn M. Dapito, introduced the Art Monthโs theme: โAni ng Sining sa Paaralan: Katotohanan at Giting ng Batang Malikhainโ, highlighting how arts reflect truth, courage, and the creative spirit of young learners. A theme presentation led by Mrs. Jee-Ann Tolentino, further engaged the audience and reinforced the significance of artistic expression in education.
Afterwards, the Arts Festival Proper featured a showcase of talents where learners demonstrated not just their talents but also their appreciation for Filipino culture through music and performance. These performances reflected learnersโ confidence, preparation, and passion for the arts. Kinder to Grade 3 pupils delighted the audience with lively folksongs and folk dances for intermediate level. Their performances highlighted rhythm, coordination, and joyful participation, capturing the innocence and enthusiasm of young learners. Kindergarten pupils started the presentation with a cheerful performance of Top of the World, Grade 1 learners followed with the well-loved Filipino folk song Leron-Leron Sinta, Grade 2 pupils charmed the audience with Mamang Sorbetero, finally, Grade 3 pupils delivered a graceful rendition of Ang Pipit.
Moreover, Grades 4 to 6 pupils delivered heartfelt renditions of Kundiman and OPM love songs like, โIkaw ang Ligaya Koโ, โNandito Akoโ, โKahit Maputi na ang Buhok koโ, demonstrating improved vocal control, expression, and stage presence. Their performances conveyed emotion and maturity, allowing the audience to appreciate the beauty of Filipino love songs while celebrating the learnersโ growing confidence and musical skills. To fully energize the crowd more, a Zumba Dance performance was conducted, showcasing rhythm, movement, and teamwork.
In the afternoon session, pupils actively participated in doing some artworks in their designated room. This includes mask making, paper weaving, clay modeling, printmaking, paper mosaic art, origami and paper folding, cultural symbol drawing, indigenous pattern coloring, and face painting. These arts activities encouraged hands-on creativity, collaboration, and appreciation for various artistic forms.
The event concluded with gratitude to all teachers, learners, and organizers whose efforts ensured the success of the celebration. Overall, the National Arts Month activity strengthened learnersโ artistic skills, cultural awareness, and self-confidence, reinforcing the schoolโs commitment to nurturing well-rounded and creative individuals. -A.Berina
