Lucena City emerged as one of the committed local government units during the “Presentation of DOST–UPLB SARAI CeNTRO LGU Partners” in the 2025 National Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (NSTW) held at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena, Laoag City on Nov. 19.

Representatives from the Lucena City Agriculture Office and the City Planning and Development Office received a 3D-printed plaque, reaffirming the city’s dedication and official acknowledgment of its commitment to advancing climate-smart agriculture through the DOST–UPLB program Smarter Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry in the Philippines – Centralized National Hub for Regional Operations (SARAI CeNTRO). Lucena joined other CALABARZON LGUs—Magallanes in Cavite and Siniloan in Laguna—in this recognition.

As one of CALABARZON’s partner LGUs, Lucena is set to adopt science-based tools for crop monitoring, climate advisories, and data-driven agricultural planning—strengthening support for local farmers and promoting more resilient and sustainable food systems in the city.

The event also served as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration among participating LGUs and DOST Regional Offices. By featuring its partner LGUs at NSTW 2025, the activity underscored the vital role of local governments as frontline actors in bringing science-based interventions closer to farming communities.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The Lucena City Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) with the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) in partnership with the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) and the Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC), successfully conducted a three-day Planning Workshop on the formulation of the Local Development Plan and Investment Program for Children on October 27-29, 2025 at Queen Margarette Hotel Downtown.

The workshop brought together members of the Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) and the Barangay Councils for the Protection of Children (BCPC) from all barangays of Lucena City to collaboratively identify priorities, strategies, and programs that advance children’s rights in the areas of survival, development, protection, and participation.

To learn first-hand about its Smart City initiatives in Cauayan City, Isabela, representatives and officers of the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (LEDIPO), Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO), Dalubhasaan ng Lungsod ng Lucena (DLL), and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Quezon benchmarked in Cauayan City, Oct. 1–3.

In coordination with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) CALABARZON – PSTO Quezon, and DOST Region 2 – PSTO Isabela, the delegation’s three-day benchmarking activity kicked off with a meeting before proceeding to Cauayan City for a series of courtesy visits and site tours.

On October 2, the group met with Mayor Caesar S. Dy, Jr., who shared how Cauayan has used ICT tools and partnerships to improve public services. They were also given a presentation on the city’s Smarter City projects, followed by field visits to the 21st Century Learning and Environmental Model (CLEM) at Cauayan City National High School, and the City Agriculture Mushroom Center.

On October 3, the team proceeded to Isabela State University (ISU) Cauayan Campus, where they met with campus representatives and toured research and innovation hubs such as the Business Intelligence Research and Development Center (BIRD-C).

According to the Lucena delegation, the visit provided practical insights on smart governance, technology-driven agriculture, and research-based innovation—all of which will serve as useful references as Lucena works on its own Smart City roadmap.

Subject: Application for Accreditation of Civil Society Organizations for Representation in the Local Special Bodies
(NGOs, People's Organization, Indigenous People's Organization, Civic Organization, Cooperative, Social Movements, Professional Groups, Business Groups, People's Council)

The Sangguniang Panlungsod is inviting all CSOs that are operating within the City of Lucena to apply for accreditation. Attendance to the CSO Conference on July 18, 2025 at the SP Session Hall, 3rd Floor, Lucena City Government Complex is required before applying for accreditation.

Please submit six (6) hard copies each and one (1) e-copy of the following to apply for Accreditation of your Organization:
1. Letter of Application
2. Duly accomplished Application Form for Accreditation
3. Duly approved Board Resolution signifying intention for accreditation for the purpose of representation in a local special body
4. Certificate of Registration or existing valid Certificate of 5. Accreditation from any NGA (or in the case of IPOs, certification issued by NCIP)
6. List of current Officers
7.
