28 Years of Logistical Excellence: 4FSSU Celebrates Founding Anniversary and New Facilities

The 4th Forward Service Support Unit (4FSSU) marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 28th Founding Anniversary, anchored on the theme: "28 Taong Serbisyong Una ang Hukbong Katihan sa Timog Katagalugan” on 02 March 2026. The celebration served as a powerful testament to nearly three decades of dedicated logistical support to the Philippine Army across the Southern Tagalog region.

The anniversary was graced by MGEN FLORANTE P SISON PA, Commander of the
Support Command who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

During his keynote address, MGEN SISON shared a personal story that resonated with every soldier in the crowd. He took us back to his days as a young Lieutenant, when he found himself facing a major logistical crisis in the field.

"I remember coming here years ago with equipment that needed urgent repair," MGen Sison shared. "Whether it was vehicle maintenance or critical logistical solutions, this unit ensured I could get back to the mission. To stand here now as your Commander is a reminder of the quiet, essential work you do every day to keep our boots on the ground and our wheels turning.”

His story served as a humbling reminder that the support we provide no matter how small it may seem at the time can be a lifeline for those on the front lines.

Beyond the look back at history, the event also focused on the future of the unit’s operational readiness. A highlight of the celebration was the inauguration and blessing of the newly constructed General Stock Warehouse.

As we move into our 29th year, we carry MGen Sison’s words with us as a badge of honor. We remain dedicated to being the reliable force that our leaders and our people can always count on.

🎄 4FSSU Christmas Celebration 2025: A Season of Light, Gratitude, and Unity ✨

The spirit of Christmas shone brightly as the 4th Forward Service Support Unit (4FSSU) joyfully marked its 2025 Christmas Celebration. This meaningful series of activities masterfully interwoven themes of unity, gratitude, service, and the joy of togetherness among officers, personnel, and their families.

The celebration officially commenced on 05 December 2025 with the Christmas Lighting Ceremony. The entire 4FSSU compound was brilliantly illuminated through the collective effort of each company participating in the Christmas Decor Competition. These festive displays were more than a visual highlight; they were vibrant symbols of hope, peace, and renewal, powerfully showcasing the creativity, teamwork, and dedication of the personnel. The activity successfully fostered deep camaraderie, friendly competition, and a strong sense of pride and unity within the unit.

The culminating events took place on 14 December 2025, beginning with a solemn Thanksgiving Mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Chapel. Officers, personnel, and dependents gathered in prayer to express profound gratitude for the year’s blessings, seek divine guidance for the coming year, and strengthen their faith as one 4FSSU family, setting a meaningful and reverent tone for the day.

Following the Mass, a heartfelt Retirement Ceremony was conducted in honor of Master Sergeant Alberto M. Beljot (OS) PA. MSg Beljot was recognized for his exemplary career spanning 29 years and 4 months of faithful service in the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Having served with 4FSSU since November 2018, he was highly commended for his professionalism, dedication, and invaluable contributions. The ceremony paid a fitting tribute to a career defined by sacrifice, loyalty, and selfless service, as the unit expressed its deepest gratitude and respect for his lasting legacy.
The celebration transitioned into a lively Christmas Party with the Dependents, filling the venue with infectious laughter, excitement, and holiday cheer. Personnel and families embraced the festive theme, donning colorful cartoon character and anime costumes. Engaging games and activities created joyful moments—especially for the children—while a raffle draw for minor prizes added excitement and smiles among all attendees.

One of the distinct highlights of the celebration was the innovative Loot Bag / Eco Bag Initiative. Demonstrating true resourcefulness and environmental responsibility, the unit distributed Christmas packages using custom-made eco-bags. These bags were creatively crafted from unserviceable Battle Dress Uniforms (BDUs) turned in to the unit. This initiative transcended a simple gift bag; it symbolized the unit’s commitment to sustainability, waste reduction, and responsible stewardship of resources, transforming discarded military materials into meaningful, functional items that conveyed a powerful message of innovation and purpose.

The day concluded with an evening of Socials, providing a relaxed atmosphere for fellowship, music, and shared stories. The presence of invited stakeholders, who served as judges for the Christmas Decoration Competition, added to the evening's prestige. Company talent presentations brilliantly showcased the creativity and confidence of the personnel, while the much-anticipated drawing of major raffle prizes heightened the excitement. The celebration culminated with the Awarding Ceremony for Best Christmas Decor, Best in Costume (Personnel), and Best Talent Presentation, recognizing outstanding creativity, participation, and teamwork, and bringing the festivities to a memorable close.

The program concluded with an inspiring message from the Commanding Officer, LTC MARIA VICTORIA C MATILLANO QMS (GSC) PA. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to all officers, personnel, dependents, and stakeholders for their unwavering support and participation. She emphasized the critical values of unity, teamwork, and the importance of carrying the spirit of Christmas—service, compassion, and gratitude—beyond the holiday season and into daily duties.

Overall, the 4FSSU Christmas Celebration 2025 was a resounding success—a heartfelt expression of unity, appreciation, and shared joy. It honored dedicated service, strengthened the bonds of the 4FSSU family, and reaffirmed the core values of faith, teamwork, and gratitude that will undoubtedly guide the unit toward another year of committed service and excellence.

4FSSU Conducts Gender and Development Seminar on VAWC in Support of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women

As a key unit of the Support Command, the 4th Forward Service Support Unit is primarily tasked with sustaining the operational readiness of Army units through logistics support, equipment maintenance, and mission-essential services. Beyond its logistical mandate, 4FSSU is also committed to upholding discipline, ensuring personnel welfare, and fostering a professional and safe working environment.

In line with this commitment, 4FSSU, Support Command, Philippine Army, successfully conducted its Gender and Development (GAD) Seminar on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) as part of the nationwide observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, an annual advocacy led by the Philippine Commission on Women. Held at the 4FSSU Headquarters, the seminar underscored the importance of strengthening gender sensitivity, raising awareness of Republic Act 9262, and reinforcing the Army’s dedication to protecting the rights, safety, and dignity of women and children.

The event formally commenced with welcome remarks from CPT LEAHLET M MANIEGO (QMS) PA, Admin Officer and GAD Officer of 4FSSU. She highlighted the timely significance of the seminar, noting that VAWC remains a critical issue affecting Filipino families and communities. She emphasized the pivotal role of 4FSSU personnel as advocates of respect, discipline, and protection against all forms of gender-based violence.

The seminar featured Ms. Carmelita T. Capparos, Gender and Development Focal Person of Lucena City, as the guest lecturer. Her presentation covered the different forms of VAWC, legal remedies for victims, protocols for handling disclosures, and the importance of cultivating safe spaces both inside and outside the workplace. She also stressed the value of a survivor-centered approach and the responsibility of uniformed personnel to respond with fairness, professionalism, and empathy.
Personnel from the officer, enlisted, and civilian components of 4FSSU actively participated in the discussions and the open forum that followed, demonstrating the unit’s unified stand against gender-based violence.

In the closing remarks, LTC Maria Victoria C. Matillano QMS (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of 4FSSU, expressed gratitude to all participants and reaffirmed the unit’s unwavering support for the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW. She emphasized that as members of the Philippine Army, their duty extends beyond protecting the nation from external threats—they must also uphold human rights, prevent abuse, and foster a culture of respect and accountability. She further encouraged personnel to recognize that everyone can be part of the solution: “Small acts of concern, empathy, and courage can create safer spaces for women and children. Hindi kailangan malaki ang hakbang; minsan ang mga maliliit at malimit na hakbang ang mas malaking impact.” LTC Matillano urged all to apply the lessons learned and remain vigilant in promoting gender sensitivity in all aspects of service.

Through sustained GAD initiatives such as this, the 4FSSU continues to advance its advocacy against gender-based violence and supports the national mission to create safer, more inclusive, and empowered communities for all.
