Augustine Parish in Lubao, Pampanga traces its foundation to as early as May 3, 1572, when the Spanish Augustinian missionaries accepted it as a visita of the mission of Tondo, thus, making it the oldest parish and town in Pampanga. The pioneering missionaries may have dedicated the visita to the father of the Augustinian Order since it was the first missionary station established in the provi

nce of Pampanga.The church of light materials was first built in barrio Santa Catalina by Fray Juan Gallegos. Other historians particularly mentioned the Sitio Sapang Pari, the landing place of Augustinian missionaries who sailed to Pampanga via Manila Bay. It was moved about thirty years later to the present site due to annual floods. It was written that it was built by the famed Augustinian priest and architect, Fr. Antonio Herrera, reputed builder of the San Agustin Church in Manila. He constructed this church in 1614-1630 out of locally made bricks and sand mixed in egg albumen provided by the people of Lubao. The good people of Lubao mark this year the 450 years of Faith in Pampanga, with prayerful thanksgiving for the gift of Faith and renewed hope to take up the challenges of our time.

In preparation for the celebration of the 450th anniversary of Christianity in Pampanga which started in our town Lubao, we will have an Augustinian exhibit featuring different Augustinian saint images from different places in the province.

Opening and blessing of the images will happen on April 27 at 6:30 pm after the novena mass.

The exhibit is open from April 28-May 3. Please refer to the poster regarding the time of the exhibit.
We encourage everyone who will enter the exhibit to observe minimum health protocols and avoid touching the images.
