Sa tulong ng DA-RFO CALABARZON, sinimulan na ng PhilRice ang Climate-Smart Maps (CS Map) Project sa probinsiya ng Cavite at isinagawa ang Participatory Climate Risk Mapping (PCRM) Workshop nitong Setyembre 30.

Sama-samang tinukoy ng mga kalahok mula sa provincial at municipal agriculture offices at mga rice farmers ang mga panganib na nararanasan sa mga palayan ng Cavite, kung papaano ito nakakaapekto sa kanila, at ang mga ginagawa at suportang binibigay/natatanggap tuwing nagkakaroon ng mga panganib na ito. Ipinavalidate ang iba’t ibang mga mapa: consistently-planted rice areas, rice areas susceptible to drought and flood. Hiningi rin mula sa mga kalahok ang impormasyon patungkol sa seasonal hazards, historical hazards, at resources for rice farming.

Ang mga impormasyon na nakuha mula sa workshop ay magsisilbing batayan para makuha ang climate risk levels ng iba’t ibang panganib, mga i-gegenerate na climate risk maps, at gagawing adaptation plans na ibabahagi sa susunod na aktibidad.

DA-Philippine Rice Research Institute Los Baños is looking for qualified applicants for the Science Research Specialist I position under Contract of Service status.

Serve as one of the key personnel/technical staff in the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) component on the implementation of Scaling of Palayamanan and Heirloom Rice Production Project in station’s area of responsibility (AOR):

1. Facilitate/assist in responding to requests for technical assistance from DA Regional Field Office- IVA and IVB partners.
2. Coordinate with partner agencies on planning and organizing activities related to the project.
3. Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation throughout the whole year in the project implementation of DA-RFOs and CSO partners in selected sites.
4. Facilitate/assist in other related activities of the project-technical briefings, site validation, site establishment, site monitoring and evaluation, trainings, workshops, meetings, etc.
5. Assist in the preparation of report required by PhilRice and implementing partners

Key personnel in the Monitoring and Evaluation component (RiceME) of RiceTIP project:
1. Lead the post-activity assessment of different RiceTIP-related activities.
2. Conduct analysis of results and drafting of reports in every postactivity assessment.
3. Responsible for the management of project database.
4. Assist in the development and management of the Stations Database.
5. Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.

𝗠𝗮𝘀 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝘁𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗸𝘀𝘆𝗼𝗻, 𝗠𝗮𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗸 𝗻𝗮 𝗢𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗺𝗴𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝘀𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗸𝗮 𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗼!🌾

Matagumpay na naisagawa ang Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) at Philippine Good Agricultural Practices (PhilGAP) Training para sa mga magsasaka ng Soro-Soro Ibaba Development Cooperative (SIDC), noong Setyembre 14–18 sa Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

Layunin ng limang araw na pagsasanay na palawakin ang kaalaman ng mga magsasaka sa food safety, good manufacturing practices, at mga pamantayan ng PhilGAP bilang paghahanda sa pagpapalawak ng kanilang market opportunities at pagkuha ng kinakailangang sertipikasyon.

Naging posible ang pagsasagawa ng training sa pamamagitan ng pagtutulungan ng Municipal Agriculturist Office of Naujan, DOST Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) Oriental Mindoro at Office of the Provincial Agriculturist–Provincial Agricultural Center (PAgO-PAC) Oriental Mindoro, na nagsilbing technical resource persons para sa GMP training; DA RFO - MIMAROPA Regulatory Division, na nanguna sa mga talakayan hinggil sa PhilGAP; at DA RFO - MIMAROPA Rice Program, na naglaan ng pondo para sa pagsasanay.

Sa pamamagitan ng training, nabigyan ang mga magsasaka ng mas malalim na pag-unawa sa mga pangunahing prinsipyo ng food safety at GMP, gayundin sa mga pamantayan at proseso ng PhilGAP certification. Mahalaga ito lalo na sa patuloy na pagdami ng mga magsasaka ng SIDC na interesado at naghahandang sumailalim sa PhilGAP certification.

Bahagi rin ng aktibidad ang paggawad ng PhilGAP Group Certification certificate sa SIDC, bilang pagkilala sa matagumpay na pagkumpleto ng unang batch ng kanilang group certification para sa rice production.

𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗨𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗬 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗔 𝗦𝗔 𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗢𝗥𝗢! 🌾

Nakakuha ang Soro-Soro Ibaba Development Cooperative (SIDC) ng ₱9.6-million rice supply contract para sa third at fourth tranche ng UPLB Rice Subsidy Program, na magbibigay ng dagdag na market opportunity para sa mga rice farmers ng Oriental Mindoro.

Ang SIDC ay isa sa mga kooperatibang tinutulungan ng RiceBIS 2.0 upang mapalakas ang kanilang market access at maging mas competitive ang kanilang mga produktong bigas.

Isa rin sa mga mahalagang tagumpay ng kooperatiba ang pagiging kauna-unahang PhilGAP group-certified rice farm sa buong MIMAROPA. Sa pamamagitan ng PhilGAP certification, nasusunod ng mga kasaping magsasaka ang mga pamantayan para sa ligtas, de-kalidad, at responsableng produksyon ng bigas.

Mahalaga ang ganitong pagkilala at market linkage dahil nagbibigay ito ng mas maraming pagkakataon para sa mga rice farmers ng Oriental Mindoro na maipasok ang kanilang produkto sa institutional markets at mapalawak ang kanilang sources of income.

Patuloy namang isinusulong ng RiceBIS 2.0 ang pakikipagtulungan sa mga kooperatiba at market partners upang makapagbukas ng mas maraming oportunidad para sa mga lokal na magsasaka.

AEWs, PALAYCHECK ready! 🌾✅

Level up ang kaalaman at hands-on skills ng mga Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) ng CALABARZON sa kanilang pagbisita sa DA-PhilRice Los Baños bilang bahagi ng Training Course on In**ed Rice Production for AEWs ng DA-ATI CALABARZON.

Hindi lang kaalaman ang kanilang baon, kundi mga praktikal na kasanayang maibabahagi upang matulungan at magabayan ang mga magsasaka sa makabagong teknolohiya at pamamaraan sa pagpapalayan.

Bilang bahagi ng kanilang hands-on learning, aktuwal nilang isinagawa ang Agro-Ecosystem Analysis (AESA), Minus-One Element Technique (MOET) set-up, seedbed preparation, at lumahok din sa Participatory Varietal Selection (PVS) sa varietal demonstration ng PhilRice LB.

Tinalakay rin ang PalayCheck System, Palayamanan, at Gender and Development upang mas maging handa sila sa pagbibigay ng angkop na teknikal na suporta sa mga rice farmer.

Katuwang sa 4-day training ang DA-RFO IV-A, DA-PhilRice Los Baños, at FarmEx Corporation.

Pinusuan ng ating mga ka-Palay ang iba’t ibang barayti na tampok sa ginanap na Variety Field Trial sa Heart of the Philippines–Torrijos, Marinduque.

Mula sa pitong barayti, nanguna ang NSIC Rc 740, Rc 222, at Rc 732 bilang kanilang most preferred variety.

Ayon kay ka-Palay Eufrocina, “Napakahalaga ng VFT kasi dito natututunan namin kung anong magandang itanim sa specific na lugar. Maganda ‘yung naging discussion namin kasi nalaman namin ‘yung mga characteristics ng barayti, hindi ‘yung basta-basta lang kami nagtatanim.”
