Matico Falls

Well, I am back to one of the top 10 richest municipalities in the Philippines - Sual! Sual is not just rich on assets but also with beautiful destinations. And one of those is the Matico Falls!

Matico Falls is one of the astounding falls here in Pangasinan. It is located at Brgy. Siaosio in Sual. You will really fall in love with its clean, clear, and cold water. It is shallow but just be careful with the slippery. You need to trek for 30 to 40 minutes, depending on your pacing. You will enjoy the view of the rice terraces. I love the serenity of the place.

HOW TO GET THERE:
Going here through commuting is not really advisable. You can Waze or use Google Maps to locate the place. You can see a signage going to the falls. The trails going to the exact location of falls are a bit confusing so just ask the farmers that are in the area so they can help you locate the falls.

Ginugunita natin ngayong araw ang ika-65 anibersaryo ng kamatayan ni Carlos S. Bulosan, bantog na nobelista, manunula at tubong Binalonan, Pangasinan.

Dahil sa kahirapan ng buhay sa Pilipinas noong panahon ng mga Amerikano, nagpasya siyang magtungo sa Estados Unidos kung saan napunta siya sa iba’t-ibang mga trabaho na mababa ang pasahod tulad ng pagiging manggagawa sa plantasyon at pabrika ng mga de-lata. Dagdag pa sa mga kinaharap niyang pagsubok ang rasismo sa mga tulad niyang Asyano.

Marami siyang naiwang mga sulatin subalit maituturing na pinakatanyag ang “𝐴𝑚𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑎 𝑖𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑡” na bunga ng kanyang buhay at mga karanasan bilang isang Pilipinong migranteng manggagawa sa Amerika. Kadalasan itong kahingian na babasahin sa 𝐴𝑠𝑖𝑎𝑛-𝐴𝑚𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑠𝑡𝑢𝑑𝑦 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑚𝑠 sa Estados Unidos sa kasalukuyan.

Ipinagdiriwang ngayong araw ang ”Carlos Bulosan Day” sa Binalonan, Pangasinan bilang pagpupunyagi kay Bulosan bilang anak ng Binalonan. Ito ay mula nang maipasa ng Binalonan Municipal Council ang 𝑂𝑟𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑁𝑜. 2006-01 noong 2006 na nagtatakda tuwing Septyembre 11 bawat taon ng nasabing pagdiriwang.

Mula sa mga pagsubok na pinagdaanan ni Bulosan at ng kanyang mga kapwa migrante sa kanyang panahon, dalangin namin ang palagiang kaligtasan ng mga Pilipino ngayon na nasa ibang bansa, migrante man o OFW, na dumadaan naman ngayon sa pagsubok ng panahon ng pandemya.
