🔎 𝗜𝗡 𝗙𝗢𝗖𝗨𝗦 | 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗮𝘆 🩻

The City Government of Ligao, through the City Health Office, continues its intensified tuberculosis prevention efforts by hosting the 2nd day of Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) Reading for household contacts of TB cases in Ligao City, complemented by onsite chest X-ray services through the DOH Mobile X-Ray Van, medical consultations, and the administration of Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment (TPT).

This initiative supports the global effort to end tuberculosis, a disease identified by the World Health Organization as a major public health concern and a key target under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In support of this mission, the National Federation of Women’s Clubs of the Philippines, led by Former Mayor Linda P. Gonzalez, has partnered with local stakeholders to strengthen TB prevention, early detection, and treatment initiatives in communities.

The activity also follows the successful completion of the TST Administration Training and Reading for NTP Nurses and Doctors in the Province of Albay yesterday, June 4, 2026, facilitated by Dr. Elvy G. Barroso, in collaboration with the Provincial Health Office and the City Health Office of Ligao.

Dr. Barroso, a Ligaoeña, is the President and Founder of the Fight Against Tuberculosis Among Filipinos Foundation, Inc. (FATBFF), and has dedicated her career to advancing tuberculosis prevention, control, and treatment. Her work has helped improve infection control practices, expand access to TB treatment, and promote latent TB infection screening and preventive treatment among vulnerable populations both in the Philippines and abroad. She also leads community-based initiatives focused on screening and treating household contacts of TB patients, helping break the chain of transmission through early intervention.

The initiative was further supported by members of FATBFF, including Dr. Laura Garcia, Vice President of FATBFF, together with her husband Fernando Mendez; Prof. Roberto Acevedo, Epidemiologist of FATBFF; Claudette Barroso, Liaison Officer; and Faith Simone Vidal, FATBFF Intern.

The 5-day Latent Tuberculosis Infection (LTBI) Screening, Testing, Reading and Treatment training, is a collaboration between FATBFF, Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO), Department of Health, City Government of Ligao, Provincial Government of Albay, Donors, NFWC and other NGOs.

Certificates were awarded to participating nurses and doctors in recognition of their commitment to TB control and prevention. Certificates of Appreciation were likewise presented to FATBFF and the City Federation Organization (CFO) for their invaluable support to the program.

The three-day Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro) conducted by the national nutrition evaluation team for the First Year CROWN Award was successfully concluded yesterday, June 4, 2026.

During the exit conference, the evaluation team presented its initial observations and feedback on Ligao City’s implementation of nutrition programs and interventions for Calendar Year 2025. The assessment covered the city’s efforts in planning, management, service delivery, and outcomes in nutrition governance and changes in Nutritional Status of Pre School Children, School Children and Nutritionally At Risk Pregnant Mothers.

The official results are expected to be released in September 2026.

(Legazpi City, June 3, 2026) Nakamit ng tatlong lungsod at 14 na bayan sa Albay ang Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) matapos pumasa sa CY 2025 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA).

Ayon sa Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bicol, sa kabuuang 68 LGUs na nakapasa sa buong rehiyong Bicol, malaking bahagi nito ay mula sa Albay.

Para sa component cities, kinabibilangan ito ng Tabaco, Legazpi, at Ligao.

Habang ang 14 na bayan sa lalawigan ay kinabibilangan ng Bacacay, Camalig, Daraga, Guinobatan, Jovellar, Libon, Malilipot, Malinao, Manito, Oas, Pio Duran, Polangui, Sto. Domingo, at Tiwi.

Ang pagkilalang ito ay nakabatay sa ipinamalas na serbisyo nitong taong 2024, ay naglalayong gawaran ang mga lokal na pamahalaan ng prestihiyosong SCFLG award, kung saan ipinakita ng mga naturang lokal na pamahalaan ang kanilang matatag na paninindigan sa pagtataguyod ng karapatan ng mga bata sa kaligtasan, pag-unlad, proteksyon, at partisipasyon.

Inihayag din ng DILG Bicol na ang tagumpay na ito ay testamento ng walang sawang dedikasyon ng bawat lokal na pamahalaan sa pagprotekta sa mga karapatan ng bawat batang Bicolano.

Dagdag pa rito, layunin ng CFLGA na sukatin ang mga programa ng gobyerno na nakatuon sa kapakanan ng mga kabataan, kabilang ang mga serbisyong pangkalusugan, edukasyon, at mga batas na naglalayong wakasan ang karahasan laban sa mga bata.

Sa pagkilalang ito, inaasahang mas lalo pang pagtitibayin ng Albay ang kanilang mga hakbang upang maging mas ligtas, inklusibo, at "child-friendly" ang bawat komunidad sa lalawigan.
