𝑪𝒖𝒍𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒚

The Ligao City Heritage Library and Museum, through the leadership of our City Mayor, Hon. Fernando V. Gonzalez, successfully held the culminating activity of the Summer Reading Tutorial Program. The event featured the group presentation of selected learners, the recognition of eight (8) dedicated teacher-volunteers, the awarding of selected learners for their improvement, and the distribution of school supplies to fifty (50) participating learners.

𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑫𝒂𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑩𝑱𝑴𝑷 𝑶𝒖𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉

As the Summer Reading Tutorial Program nears its conclusion, the learners had their assessment during the final two days. This evaluation served to measure their progress in reading and comprehension before the culminating activity on the last day.

At the same time, the officers from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) conducted an outreach activity for the learners, sharing their time, support, and encouragement to further inspire the children in their educational journey.

We sincerely extend our heartfelt gratitude to the BJMP for choosing the Ligao City Heritage Library and Museum as their partner and recipient in this meaningful initiative. Their presence and generosity greatly contributed to the success of the program and to the learners’ motivation to keep improving.

Ligao City has launched a Summer Reading Tutorial Program aimed at helping struggling readers improve their comprehension and reading skills.

The initiative, led by the City Library, offers guided reading sessions and personalized instruction for elementary pupils from Grades 1 to 6.

The Ligao City Heritage Library and Museum received a Plaque of Appreciation from the Philippine Group of Law Librarians, Inc. in recognition of its active participation in “The Purple Shelves” during National Women’s Month 2026, affirming its dedication to advancing gender equality, women empowerment, and inclusive library services.

Driven by our desire to support struggling readers, the Ligao City Heritage Library and Museum, through the leadership of our City Mayor, Hon. Fernando V. Gonzalez, opened the Summer Reading Tutorial Program last April 27, 2026, helping children and youth build skills and confidence in reading. The program will continue until May 22, 2026.

We sincerely thank our volunteers for their time and dedication.

The Ligao City Heritage Library and Museum will conduct an initial reading assessment for all registered participants of the Summer Reading Tutorial Program.

This assessment is designed to ensure that the program truly serves children and youth who are struggling readers. It will help us identify their specific needs and provide the most effective support throughout the sessions.

The Ligao City Heritage Library and Museum invites children and youth who are struggling readers to join the Summer Reading Tutorial Program.

📅 April 27 – May 22, 2026
🗓️ Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
⏰ 9:00 – 11:00 AM

This initiative aims to provide guided support in reading and comprehension. The program will conclude with a culminating activity on May 22, 2026, where educational supplies will be distributed to the learners in recognition of their efforts and progress.

In line with the celebration of the 25th Cityhood Anniversary of Ligao, the Ligao City Heritage Library and Museum, under the leadership of our City Mayor, Hon. Fernando V. Gonzalez, spearheaded a seminar entitled “Libraries for Learning: Strengthening Standards and Organization for DepEd School Library In-Charge.” This seminar was designed to provide updated knowledge and guidelines for school library in-charge, equipping them with the tools to strengthen library standards and organization in alignment with DepEd policies.

The initiative highlights the city’s commitment to education by ensuring that school libraries remain effective centers of learning. By empowering library in-charge with practical strategies and standardized practices, the program contributes to the broader goal of enhancing educational resources and fostering a culture of continuous learning within Ligao’s schools.
