The activity brought together 100 senior citizens, OSCA Heads, and BASCA Officers from Legazpi City and Daraga, Albay, to promote awareness on the safety, quality, effectiveness, and affordability of generic medicines. It also addressed common misconceptions about generics and emphasized the risks of purchasing or selling medicines through unauthorized sources, including sari-sari stores.
The event featured informative discussions from resource speakers from the DOH, DTI, DILG Region V, and FDA, followed by a Medical Caravan of Services in the afternoon.

Through initiatives like this, NCSC Region V continues to support healthy ageing by promoting informed choices, health awareness, and access to quality healthcare for senior citizens.

National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) Commissioner Leo L. Intia served as Guest Speaker during the Foundation Anniversary Celebration of the Municipal Federation of Senior Citizens in Bato, Camarines Sur on 28 August 2026.

In his message, Commissioner Intia paid tribute to the invaluable contributions of senior citizens as bearers of wisdom, experience, and the enduring legacy of their communities. He reaffirmed the NCSCโ€™s commitment to protecting and promoting the rights, welfare, dignity, and meaningful participation of older persons.

The occasion also highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships among government institutions, local communities, and senior citizensโ€™ organizations toward building an age-friendly Philippines where every older person can age with dignity, security, and purpose.

The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) Region V conducted a site visit in Calabanga, Camarines Sur to monitor and learn more about the ongoing livelihood initiative of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA)โ€”Mushroom Production.

The NCSC Region V team was warmly welcomed by OSCA Head Ms. Nelida Cedron, who shared the inspiring story behind the initiative. The senior citizen group underwent training on mushroom cultivation and production and has since established a small but productive space dedicated to growing mushrooms.

Despite its modest production area, the group has successfully harvested a bountiful supply of mushrooms. More importantly, they have explored ways to transform their harvest into various food products, including mushroom lumpia, siomai, sisig, and other value-added products

The National Senior Citizens Secretariat (NSCS) conducted a Leadership Orientation with the OSCA Head, BASCA Presidents and FSCAP Officers of Lagonoy, Camarines Sur, strengthening our shared commitment to responsive, inclusive, and senior citizen-centered governance.

Representing the NCSC were Regional Director Atty. Clarissa Bombase-Pacamarra and PDO II Ms. Jasmin Navera.

In her message, Atty. Bombase-Pacamarra underscored a simple yet meaningful principle in public service:
