El NiΓ±o Conditions Now Present, Likely to Persist Into Early 2027 β˜€οΈπŸŒ€οΈπŸŒ¦οΈ

DOST-PAGASA reports that El NiΓ±o conditions are now present in the tropical Pacific as observed relative sea surface temperature anomaly (rSSTA) reached the +0.5Β°C threshold.

Further, most climate models suggest there is over an 80% probability that this will develop into a full-blown El NiΓ±o event, which is likely to persist until early 2027.

APSEMO spearheads LDRRMP formulation training for Albay's 18 local government units, with APSEMO Head Bobby Cristobal.

APSEMO is currently conducting the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan (LDRRMP) Training for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officers across the 18 Local Government Units (LGUs) of the province.

The capacity-building shall run in 4 days which aims to enhance the localized planning capabilities of DRRM officers, ensuring standardized, proactive, and resilient disaster response frameworks throughout the province of Albay.

APSEMO started the orientation on the process of the inventory of Population-at-Risk (POP) for areas within the 7-to-8-kilometer Extended Danger Zone of Mayon Volcano in Legazpi City, with the presence of LDRRM Officer Engr Miladee Azur, and presided by APSEMO Research Division Head, Mr. Eugene Escobar.

Following this orientation, APSEMO field teams, in assistance to Brgy Officials, will deploy over the next three (3) days to conduct rigorous house-to-house validation and GPS tagging.

This strategic data-gathering is critical for precision planning and heightened disaster risk reduction.
