PRESS RELEASE | DOJ to mark its 129th Founding Anniversary with weeklong celebration
The Department of Justice (DOJ) will commemorate its 129th Founding Anniversary from 21 to 25 September 2026 through a weeklong series of activities celebrating public service, employee excellence, and the Department’s continuing commitment to accessible and responsible justice.
Anchored on the theme “Tanglaw ng Bayan: Pantay na Hustisya, Tunay na Pag-asa”, this year’s celebration will bring together DOJ officials, personnel, partner institutions, and members of the public through programs promoting service, institutional pride and wellness.
Justice Secretary Fredderick A. Vida and Celebration Committee Chairperson Chief State Counsel Dennis Arvin L. Chan are set to lead the Opening Ceremony on 21 September, followed by the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of the DOJ Photo Contest Exhibit, BuCor Painting Exhibit and Opening of a Government Service Caravan featuring services from Social Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Pagtutulungan sa Kinabukasan: Ikaw, Bangko, Industriya at Gobyerno (Pag-IBIG), and Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
“As we celebrate the DOJ’s 129th year in public service, let us not simply honor our workforce and the milestones that they made possible. This celebration should be a reminder that we do not simply provide service from behind closed doors–it should be a kind of justice that walks with each Filipino in their everyday pursuit of what is fair and what they rightfully deserve,” said Sec. Vida.
The festivities will continue with the opening of both Wellness Day and the DOJ Anniversary Bazaar. Other activities will include an Outreach at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) and the DOJ’s Anniversary Exhibit Display at the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila Museum of a History of Ideas.
Midweek activities turn toward personnel’s well-being, with a Health and Wellness Talk in partnership with St. Luke’s Medical Center, free medical consultation and services provided by the PhilHealth Yamang Kalusugan Program (YAKAP), free annual physical examination and flu vaccination for DOJ AMAPHIL Members, and a lineup of Tai-Chi and Zumba sessions.
The five-day celebration will culminate on 25 September with a Thanksgiving Mass, the recognition of Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) employee-awardees, the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing Ceremony between the Department of Justice and Land Bank of the Philippines on the Implementation of the DOJ Online Collection System (OCS), and the awarding of photo contest winners which feature milestones that have shaped DOJ through the years.
Through the celebration, the DOJ honors the dedication of its officials and personnel while reaffirming its commitment to delivering timely, accessible, and responsive justice to every Filipino.
