LGUs, nutrition focals lauded for excellence in nutrition governance in the ‘2026 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony’
Several local government units (LGUs) and nutrition focal points were recognized during the 2026 Bicol Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony (RNAC) for their exceptional work in delivering responsive and sustainable nutrition programs in their respective communities.
The RNAC serves as an annual gathering of nutrition and health champions across Bicol, organized by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Bicol Regional Nutrition Office to celebrate and honor the achievements of regional and local nutrition committees, nutrition action officers, local nutrition program coordinators, barangay nutrition scholars, and other stakeholders in effectively implementing and managing nutrition interventions.
For this year, the NNC Bicol Regional Office lauded eight LGUs with the Green Banner Seal of Compliance Award–an award given to provinces, cities, or municipalities that gained an overall rating of 85% or higher during the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro) while maintaining a minimum score of 60% across all dimensions. This seal validates these local governments' proactive leadership in translating national nutrition policies into life-changing community programs.
Among the awardees were the provinces of Camarines Norte and Albay; the Cities of Masbate, Sorsogon, and Iriga; and the Municipalities of Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte, San Miguel, Catanduanes, and Pili, Camarines Sur.
The Province of Sorsogon earned the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Award. This prestigious accolade is granted to an LGU that has been a Green Banner Seal of Compliance Awardee for three consecutive years, achieves a MELLPI Pro score of 90% or higher in its third year, and ranks top in the region.
Special distinctions were also conferred to the Province of Masbate and the Cities of Tabaco, Ligao, Naga, and Iriga. This award highlights their efficiency in local nutrition governance, underscoring their sustained commitment in improving community health outcomes and nutrition status in their locality.
But the 2026 Bicol Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony proved to be much more than a day of recognition; it emphasizes that these achievements serve as both a celebration and a call to action. It sets a new benchmark in public service, demonstrating how sustained local investment and effective governance can build healthier, more resilient communities.
Reaffirming their shared mission, the NNC Bicol and the Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development pledged continued commitment to providing technical and operational support to ensure that all LGUs maintain this momentum and that policies and programs transform into lasting, health-focused outcomes for every Bicolano family (DOH5/MJCLB).
