๐”๐๐ƒ๐€๐“๐„||The Regional Alternative Child Care Office (RACCO) V, headed by the Alternative Child Care Section, successfully facilitated a Foster Care Orientation and Capacity-Building Activity on August 25, 2026, in Masbate City.

The activity aimed to deepen the understanding of Barangay Captains and prospective foster parents on the Foster Care Program, highlighting the vital role of foster families in providing temporary, safe, nurturing, and loving homes for children in need of alternative care.

This initiative opens more opportunities for children who are unable to live with their biological families to experience the warmth, care, and stability of a family environment while waiting for permanent placements.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) of Masbate City for inviting our office and giving us the opportunity to collaborate in raising awareness and strengthening support for the Alternative Child Care.

The National Authority for Child Care (NACC) successfully conducted its Mid-Year Program Review and Evaluation Workshop (PREW) on August 24โ€“26, 2026, at Bayview Park Hotel, Manila.

The three-day workshop gathered NACC offices, divisions, and Regional Alternative Child Care Offices (RACCOs) to review the implementation of
NACC's programs, assess accomplishments against targets, identify challenges and gaps, and discuss action plans and priorities for the future.

Through PREW, the NACC takes notice of its progress and uses the results to guide program implementation moving forward. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›โค

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) of Albay, in partnership with the Regional Alternative Child Care Office (RACCO) V, successfully spearheaded a meaningful training entitled Trauma-Informed Care for Foster Care on August 26, 2026, at Zubiri Hall, 2F, APCEMDO Building, Cabangan, Camalig, Albay.

The training brought together the Licensed Foster Parents of Albay, who gained deeper understanding of trauma-informed care and its importance in responding to the unique needs, experiences, and behaviors of children under their care. Through this learning opportunity, participants were equipped with valuable knowledge and insights to provide more compassionate, responsive, and nurturing care to children.

The training was headed by Sir Francis E. Martillano, RGC, RPsy, whose expertise and knowledge in the field provided the participants with meaningful discussions and practical insights on understanding trauma and its impact on children, as well as the importance of creating safe, supportive, and healing environments.

The Regional Alternative Child Care Office (RACCO) V, together with the Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC) of the DSWD FO V, successfully facilitated a Child Entrustment under the Foster Care Program on August 25, 2026.

A child who was once a foundling has finally found a family who will open their hearts and provide love, care, protection, and a nurturing home through the Foster Care Program.

This moment is more than just a child entrustment. It is a reminder that every child deserves a family, a safe place to call home, and people who will choose to love and care for them.
