The 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division, Philippine Army, joins the nationwide commemoration of the Battle of Mactan this April 27, honoring the bravery of Lapu-Lapu, the first recorded Filipino defender of our sovereignty.

As we mark its 505th anniversary, we draw strength from his legacy. Just as Lapu-Lapu stood against foreign aggression, today’s Armed Forces remain determined to protect our nation, including our sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea.

A tribute to our past, a call to unity, and a commitment to defend what is rightfully ours.

KALAMANSIG, Sultan Kudarat – The 37th Infantry (Conqueror) Battalion, Philippine Army provided security assistance to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region XII in support of the Peace and Development Buong Bansa Mapayapa (PDBBM) – PAMANA Livelihood Program for Calendar Year 2026.

The series of activities was conducted from February 3–13, 2026, in the barangays of Datu Ito Andong, Datu Wasay, Hinalaan, Sabanal, Sta. Clara, and Sangay in Kalamansig. These activities ensured the safe and orderly implementation of profiling and validation processes among identified farmers’ associations and beneficiaries.

The identification of Former Rebel People’s Organizations (FR POs) was endorsed by the 37IB to the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU). The endorsed organizations were subsequently vetted and approved for funding by OPAPRU, with program implementation carried out by DSWD Region XII.

Throughout the implementation period, troops of 37IB rendered continuous security assistance during multiple profiling schedules facilitated by DSWD-12 Program Development Officers (PDOs), headed by Mr. Michael S. Sumagaysay, PDO II. The engagements were conducted in close coordination with local government units, barangay officials, Indigenous Peoples (IP) representatives, and leaders of various farmers’ associations to ensure transparency, inclusivity, and community participation.

Community activities included general assemblies, program orientations, organizational strengthening sessions, and leadership engagements. Participants also completed required documentation such as attendance sheets, data privacy consent forms, letters of intent, profile forms, and Livelihood Sub-Project Application Forms (LSAF).

The program primarily aims to address the socio-economic concerns of former rebels (FRs) who have returned to the fold of the law by providing sustainable livelihood opportunities and community-based support mechanisms. Through strengthened collaboration and partnership with OPAPRU, DSWD and local stakeholders, the 37IB remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing government peace and development initiatives. By ensuring a secure and enabling environment, the unit continues to promote long-term stability, inclusive growth, and lasting peace in the communities of Kalamansig.
