Ayon kay Commodore Cayabyab, nananatiling suspendido ang byahe ng sasakyang pandagat sa mga apektadong pantalan habang patuloy na binabantayan ang mga insidente ng "aftershock."

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) provides humanitarian assistance to residents taking shelter in an evacuation center in Sultan Kudarat, following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that affected parts of Mindanao today, June 9, 2026.

PCG personnel supported the preparation and distribution of breakfast for evacuees and conducted routine welfare checks to assess their condition and well-being.

The activity forms part of the PCG's iCARE campaign and continuing humanitarian response efforts to support communities affected by the recent earthquake and ensure the welfare of displaced residents.

LOOK: Coast Guard Station (CGS) Sultan Kudarat and its sub-stations immediately conducted preemptive evacuations across their respective Areas of Responsibility (AOR) following the recent earthquake. Response operations heavily focused on schools and residents in Barangay Tibpuan and other coastal areas within the municipality of Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.

In response to the earthquake and potential aftershocks, disaster response teams were immediately activated. Personnel successfully reassured anxious students, parents, and teachers at Gestosani Elementary School before evacuating them to safety. Currently, residents along the coastline of Brgy. Tibpuan were issued urgent safety advisories and transported to higher ground and designated shelters. Coast Guard personnel also provided initial relief assistance, distributing 15 gallons of mineral water across various centers. To ensure public safety, CGS Sultan Kudarat personnel continue to strictly monitor the Lebak shoreline for tsunami risks, relying on natural warning signs and official DOST-PHIVOLCS advisories.

A total of 382 families (1,695 individuals) have been safely evacuated and are currently housed in designated centers located in Barangays Pasandalan, Poloy-Poloy and Barurao. Local authorities, in close coordination with Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees (BDRRMCs), are actively managing the shelters to ensure orderly accommodation.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2026

LOOK: Personnel from Coast Guard Station Sultan Kudarat and CGSS Lebak joined forces with local government units, law enforcement, and youth organizations for the 2nd Quarter Clean-Up Drive in observance of World Environment Day 2026. MENRO Lebak conducted the collaborative event aligned with the global campaign theme, " " the 2nd Quarter Clean-Up Activity under the โ€œBayan Ko, Linis Koโ€

Participants included LGU Lebak, LYDO, IMGLAD Lebak, LYDC, QMP Youth Ministry, SK Salaman, PYAP Salaman, 2nd Sultan Kudarat Provincial Mobile Force Company (SKPMFC), Maritime Police, the 37th Infantry Battalion (37IB), PNP Lebak, and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP THROUGH 2026 BRIGADA ESKWELA

LOOK: Coast Guard Station Sultan Kudarat, together with its Sub-Stations CGSS Lebak, CGSS Kalamansig, CGSS Palimbang, and CGSS San Roque actively participated in the kick-off Ceremony of the 2026 Brigada Eskwela from June 3 to 4, 2026. The personnel extended their support to Eight (8) local schools, Lebak Legislative National High School, Ampad-Guiabar Memorial Elementary School, Gestosani Memorial Integrated School, Salaman Central Elementary School, Pag-Asa Elementary School, Datu Guibar Pilot School, San Roque Elementary School, Milbuk Elementary School.

In line with its commitment to community service and nation-building, CGS Sultan Kudarat and its Sub-Stations deployed personnel to assist in various Brigada Eskwela activities within their respective Area of Responsibility. These included campus clean-up drives, minor repairs, and maintenance work to ensure school facilities are clean, safe, and conducive to the educational needs of students as they prepare for the opening of classes.

The activity highlighted the value of collaboration and strong partnerships with Department of Education (DepEd) offices and local schools. Personnel from Coast Guard Station (CGS) Sultan Kudarat and its sub-stations extended full support to government agencies, educational institutions, and local stakeholders to strengthen the education sector. Driven by volunteerism and the spirit of bayanihan, this station and its Sub-Stations remains dedicated to supporting educational programs that foster community welfare and deveopment.

The Coast Guard Station Sultan Kudarat , together with Coast Guard Sub-Station Lebak and Coast Guard Sub-Station Kalamansig, recently participated in a three-day training workshop on Marine Mammal Stranding Response at Kalamansig Municipal Hall on May 18-20, 2026.

The training-workshop was spearheaded by the LGU Kalamansig in partnership with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region XII (BFAR XII) and the Philippine Marine Mammal Stranding Network (PMMSN). The training equipped station personnel with the knowledge, skills, and legal grounding needed to act swiftly and correctly when such situations arise.

The workshop was led by Dr. Lemnuel V. Aragones โ€” one of the Philippines' foremost marine mammal experts, Professor at the University of the Philippines Diliman under the Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology (IESM), and President of the Friends of PMMSN - Philippine Marine Mammal Stranding Network

Over three days, participants covered the marine mammals of the Philippines, understanding and responding to strandings, emergency first response and decision-making, Philippine Laws related to protection of marine mammals, and the ridge-to-reef approach to conservation. Dr. Darrell D Blatchley from The D'Bone Collector Museum also shared valuable field insights. The training concluded with a hands-on beach demonstration at Ala-ala Beach, Barangay Sta. Maria, Kalamansig, and the formal creation of a marine mammal stranding response team.

The workshop brought together key stakeholders from across the region, including the PNP Maritime Group, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Marines, barangay officials of Kalamansig, and representatives from the MENRO-Kalamansig, Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Kalamansig, and the Municipal Agriculture Office โ€” reflecting a whole-of-government approach to marine mammal conservation and response.

๐—œ๐—–๐—ฌ๐— ๐—œ: The Coast Guard Station Sultan Kudarat (CGS SULKUD) together with Coast Guard Sub-Station Kalamansig assisted in the conduct of the Lawn Tennis Summer Clinic held at Brgy. Poblacion, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat from May 03โ€“17, 2026.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Bernan Lou B. Bering PCG, Deputy Commander of CGS SULKUD, served as one of the invited coaches for the said summer clinic. A passionate former tennis varsity player and enthusiast with years of experience in the sport, LTJG Bering shared his knowledge, proven techniques, and practical skills with the participating children and teenagers to help them improve their game, build confidence, and develop a deeper appreciation for lawn tennis.

Around 30 young participants joined the activity, demonstrating enthusiasm and dedication in learning the fundamentals of the sport.

The activity was funded by the Local Government Unit of Kalamansig in collaboration with the Kalamansig Municipal Police Station, Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council, 2nd SKPMFC, and the Kalamansig Tennis Club.

The initiative highlights the importance of sports development, youth engagement, and strong collaboration among government agencies and community partners in promoting healthy, productive, and community-centered activities.

Both commanders expressed their commitment to the initiatives established at their new commands and conveyed their readiness to assume expanded responsibilities in furthering the operational effectiveness of their respective sub-stations.

The Coast Guard Station Sultan Kudarat (CGS SULKUD) together with Coast Guard Sub-Station Lebak Coast Guard Sub-Station Palimbang Coast Guard Sub-Station Kalamansig and Coast Guard Sub-Station San Roque completes the Two-Day Oil Spill Awareness and Response Training conducted by the Marine Environmental Protection Group - Southern Mindanao (MEPG-SM) at CGS SULKUD, Brgy. Tibpuan, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat on May 12-13, 2026.

The training program, designed to enhance the readiness and competence of Coast Guard personnel in managing oil spill incidents, covered critical topics including oil spill prevention protocols, environmental impact assessment, containment and recovery techniques, and interagency coordination procedures. The MEPG-SM delivered comprehensive instruction tailored to the maritime challenges and coastal vulnerabilities, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond swiftly and effectively to oil spill emergencies that may threaten the provincial waters and communities.

The completion of this training underscores CGS SULKUD's commitment to environmental stewardship and maritime safety in support of the Coast Guard's broader mission to protect the nation's marine resources. The trained personnel are now better positioned to implement preventive measures, coordinate rapid response operations, and minimize environmental damage in the event of oil spill incidents. This initiative reinforces the Coast Guard's dedication to safeguarding the province's critical marine ecosystems.

The training was attended by participants representing various agencies and organizations critical to the nation's environmental response framework. Attendees included personnel from the Lebak Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council, Menro Lebak, Lebak Tourism , Municipal Planning and Development Office - MPDO Lebak, Mdrrmo Lebak, BLGU Tibpuan and the local fisherfolks. This diverse participation facilitated knowledge-sharing and strengthened collaborative networks essential for coordinated oil spill response operations across the province.
