August 27–28, 2026 | The Commission on Population and Development–National Capital Region (CPD-NCR) held the 2026 Regional Conference on Population and Development (RCPD) at the Tiara Oriental Hotel in Makati City.

With the theme “Advancing Human Development Across the Life Course for a Lifetime of Returns,” the conference brought together regional line agencies (RLAs), local government units (LGUs), civil society organizations (CSOs), and the academe to present papers and research on population and development (POPDEV).

A total of 18 papers and research studies were presented, providing participants with insights into realities and emerging issues in communities that may inform program development and policy interventions addressing population-related concerns and challenges in Metro Manila.

Among the featured studies was “Sports Offerings Marketing Demand and Strategic Positioning as a Basis for Budget Optimization Decisions,” presented by Dr. Harold Deo B. Cristobal of the Dr. Filemon C. Aguilar Memorial College of Las Piñas (Dfcamclp - Office of the President)

July 29, 2026 | The Department of the Interior and Local Government – National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) successfully conducted the 2026 Capability Building for CSO Desk Officers.

The activity gathered CSO Desk Officers from all 17 NCR local government units (LGUs), including representative from the Las Piñas City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) serving as CSO Desk Officer, together with DILG-NCR Field Office CSO focal persons. Participants strengthened their knowledge and skills in fostering effective collaboration between civil society organizations (CSOs) and LGUs.

Through this initiative, DILG-NCR continues to promote meaningful citizen participation and stronger partnerships toward inclusive, responsive, and people-centered local governance.

July 8-9, 2026 | The DHSUD-NCR, through the ELUPDD, successfully conducted the Unified Capacity Building with NCR LGUs: Integrated Urban Development and Housing Governance Seminar, bringing together representatives from the 17 NCR LGUs, Key Shelter Agencies, the MMDA, and DILG-NCR.

The activity was also attended by representatives from the Las Piñas City Planning and Development Office, City Engineering Office, and Urban Poor Affairs Office, reflecting the City’s continued commitment to strengthening urban development and housing governance initiatives.

This pioneering initiative marked the first time all divisions of DHSUD-NCR came together in a single seminar to present their respective functions, programs, and support processes to the LGUs. From planning frameworks to housing programs, the seminar strengthened participants’ understanding of the Department’s services and reaffirmed DHSUD-NCR’s commitment to fostering stronger collaboration and more coordinated partnerships in advancing sustainable urban development and housing governance.

June 3, 2026 | The Regional Development Council–National Capital Region (RDC-NCR) convened representatives from national government agencies, regional line agencies, Metro Manila local government units, and various offices of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Consultation Workshop held today.

The workshop aimed to conduct a comprehensive review of the region’s current programs, projects, and activities, while also identifying implementation gaps in fiscal, technical, and policy-related areas. MMDA Assistant General Manager for Planning (Officer-in-Charge) and Physical Planning and Spatial Development Service Director Michael Gison also participated in the activity, together with other agency representatives.

The results of the workshop will serve as a valuable guide for the RDC Secretariat and key stakeholders in prioritizing and aligning programs and projects with Metro Manila’s development plan.

The activity was also attended by representatives from the Las Piñas City Planning and Development Office whose participation played a vital role in ensuring that local development priorities and community needs were effectively incorporated into regional planning discussions.

May 19–21, 2026 | The Training on Basic Statistics for Local Government Units was held at Hotel Lucky Chinatown in Binondo, City of Manila, organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority – NCR in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. The three-day activity enhanced participants’ understanding of basic statistical concepts, data interpretation, and the vital role of statistics in evidence-based planning, policy formulation, and local governance.

The Commission on Population and Development – National Capital Region (CPD NCR), led by Regional Director Ms. Jackylin D. Robel, successfully conducted the first batch of the Population and Development Leadership Course (POPDEV Lead Course): Basic Module for NCR Population Officers from May 4–7, 2026, in Binondo, Manila. The four-day training aimed to strengthen the leadership, planning, policy advocacy, and governance capabilities of NCR Population Officers and focal persons in addressing the region’s evolving demographic challenges.

The course featured expert resource speakers from CPD regional offices and the CPD Central Office, who shared insights on population and development leadership, strategic governance, and local implementation of POPDEV initiatives. Participants also learned from practical experiences shared by Metro Manila’s first POPDEV Lead Course finisher.

Through lectures, workshops, and collaborative discussions, the program deepened participants’ understanding of the link between population dynamics and sustainable development. It also equipped them with practical tools and strategies to promote inclusive, data-driven, and responsive population and development programs within their respective local government units.
