🛡️🇵🇭 Lapu-Lapu Day

April 27 marks the historic victory of Lapu-Lapu and his warriors over the forces of Ferdinand Magellan during the Battle of Mactan, a defining moment of early Filipino resistance against foreign rule.

📜 In recent years, this date has been officially recognized to honor Lapu-Lapu’s legacy of bravery, leadership, and love for country. It is also observed as a special non-working holiday in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

🏅 Fun fact: The Order of Lapu-Lapu was created to recognize individuals who demonstrate exceptional service and courage in nation-building.

✨ From history to today, Lapu-Lapu’s story continues to remind us of the strength and resilience of the Filipino spirit.

The study presents a comprehensive, survey-based feasibility assessment of the proposed Basak Teen Center, identifying youth needs, preferred services, and operational sustainability. It underscores the importance of establishing safe, inclusive, and youth-friendly spaces that support adolescent health, mental wellness, leadership, and community engagement.

This research provides a strong evidence-based foundation for local policy-making and program development—bridging grassroots realities with strategic, data-driven solutions.

Surveys show that while most Filipinos believe the spirit of EDSA endures, there is also recognition that its hopes—justice, accountability, and dignity—remain challenges we continue to face together.

Even as February 25 is marked a “special working day,” the memory of EDSA endures as a reminder of the courage, unity, and civic responsibility that continue to shape our nation.

Representing BALAHD, our President actively joined fellow youth leaders from across the region in meaningful discussions anchored on the five pillars of development—Environment, Housing, Education, Health, and Governance. Together with the Federation of Youth Organizations of Barangay Basak-FYOB, we contributed to the Youth Dialogue: Cebu in 2050, envisioning a future that is inclusive, sustainable, and youth-driven.

The forum empowered young leaders to critically assess today’s realities and co-create bold, actionable visions for Cebu’s future. Through collaborative discussions and sector-based dialogues, we reaffirmed our commitment to advancing adolescent health, youth leadership, and community development.
