" GOOD NEWS TO ALL INTERESTED AND QUALIFIED STUDENT APPLICANTS....
UNIVERSITY OF CEBU IS CURRENTLY IN NEED OF WORKING SCHOLARS FOR THE FIRST SEMESTER OF THE SCHOOL YEAR 2025-2026.
This is a scholarship given to qualified students who are deserving to gain free education as well as the benefit of working experiences by rendering services to any departments and/or offices.
This scholarship grant is only applicable to College students. This grant is not allowed to College students who are in their fourth year of education.
Working Scholar applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. Grades of 85% and above in the case of Senior High School graduates
2. 2.5 and above for already in College
3. Must pass the IQ Exams and Personality Test administered by the Guidance Office
Qualified Working Scholars shall receive the following benefits and privileges:
A. FULL FREE TUITION FEE INCLUDING REGISTRATION, MISCELLANEOUS AND LABORATORY FEES
B. MONTHLY ALLOWANCES
C. ON THE JOB TRAINING EXPOSURES WHILE WORKING IN THE OFFICES
D. FREE ACCESS TO EDUCATIONAL, PERSONALITY SKILLS-BUILDING, ENHANCEMENT WORKSHOPS, TRAININGS AND SEMINARS
The Working Scholars while they are receiving their grants must:
* RENDER AT LEAST FOUR (4) TO FIVE (5) HOURS OF SERVICE DAILY
* POSSESSES EXEMPLARY BEHAVIOR INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF WORKPLACE
* MUST EXHIBIT GREAT INTEREST IN STUDIES
* MUST NOT INCUR FAILING GRADES OF NG, DR, NC & W
ADMISSION PROCESS AND REQUIREMENTS:
1. Prior to enrollment, an applicant must present the following documents to the Office of the Campus HR Director and Working Scholars In-Charge:
A. FOR THE INCOMING COLLEGE FRESHMAN
* Application Letter
* Original and Photocopied Senior High School Report Card - Form 138 with NO FINAL GRADE BELOW 85% IN ALL SUBJECTS
* Original and Photocopied Parent's Income Tax Return (for working parents) or Barangay Certification of Parents
B. OLD STUDENTS (COLLEGE)
* Application Letter
* Original and Photocopied Mid-Term Grade with NO GRADE BELOW 2.5 IN ALL SUBJECTS
* Original and Photocopied Parent's Income Tax Return ( for working parents) or Barangay Certification of Parents
2. An applicant shall be required to fill up a WORKING SCHOLAR APPLICATION FORM and attached to it is the QUALIFYING EXAMINATION PERMIT SLIP
3. The applicant shall bring his/her documents together with the Application/Profile Form to the HR Department. Applicant shall take the QUALIFYING EXAMINATION such as IQ TEST, PERSONALITY TEST AND EQ TEST at the Guidance Office as endorsed by the HR Department. All passers are informed through a posted announcement at the HR Department.
4. Those who pass the qualifying examination shall undergo a preliminary interview with the HR Associate and/or Working Scholars Coordinator. Those who pass the final interview by the Department Head and the Campus HR Director and/or Working Scholars In-Charge shall have the chance to become a working scholar depending on the available slot. Successful applicants are informed through a posted announcement at the HR Department.
5. Applicants are evaluated with the following percentage weight: GPA - 20%; Psychological/Emotional Test - 40% and Interview - 40%
6. Successful applicants are then required to submit themselves to Medical Examination. UC Physician shall issue a referral form for an applicant to undergo Medical Examination including Chest X-Ray. Should medical results yield an applicants to be unfit to work, this will be a basis for denying the application.
7. Applicants whose medical results yield an applicant to be fit to work, the applicant shall then comply with the following documents to be submitted to the HR Department:
A. Working Scholarship Contract ( forms available at the HR Department)
B. One piece 2X2 Colored ID picture
C. Parent's Consent and Permit
D. Long Size Folder
E. Medical Certificates Results
DEADLINE OF SUBMISSION OF THE WORKING SCHOLAR'S SCHOLASTIC RECORDS AND/OR REQUIREMENTS WILL BE ON APRIL 15, 2025.
