A Filipino librarian has created this online tool to generate Cutter author numbers based on the Cutter-Sanborn Three-Figure Author Table. Feel free to share and use it for cataloging. How to use: Just input the author's surname on the Author Last Name field and click "Generate Record" or create a call number from the data you provided.

For feedback, comments, and suggestions you can send it to the creator Dewei Lalogar or email: [email protected]

It's good that librarians are creating these useful online tools that we can use in our daily work. For catalogers, LIS students, library staff, and librarians, bookmark or save this now! See link in comments.

Here are some libraries and organizations that provide FREE and downloadable Filipino eBooks. See comment below for the links.

I noticed that many free "online libraries" that were compiled or created during the pandemic are sadly inaccessible now. I feel like organizations and libraries who create digital library initiatives should plan for longevity and in some cases, the project will stop if the person involved or those maintaining it are no longer with the project or have stopped working in the organization.

Will be posting more free resources soon.

1875 Philippine Map "Carta General del Archipiรฉlago Filipino" donated to the National Library of the Philippines

For the third time, former Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio has gifted the nation with another vital historical document affirming Philippine maritime sovereigntyโ€”the 1875 Carta General del Archipiรฉlago Filipino (1902 edition). This donation was formally turned over to the National Library of the Philippines (NLP) on 19 March 2026 at the Epifanio Delos Santos Auditorium.

The map was officially received by NLP Director Cesar Gilbert Q. Adriano and Assistant Director Edgardo B. Quiros. Following the turnover, Justice Carpio delivered a lecture emphasizing the mapโ€™s significance in defining the Philippinesโ€™ national territory. His presentation, attended by representatives from government institutions, the academe, the education sector, legal experts, historical organizations, and the public, highlighted the crucial role of historical maps in resolving territorial disputes.

With this latest addition, Justice Carpioโ€™s Four Map Project is now complete and permanently exhibited at the NLP Gallery. The collection features:
๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ The 1734 Murillo Velarde Map
๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Part I of the 1808 Carta General del Archipiรฉlago Filipino
๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ The Philippine map attached to the Treaty of Paris
๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ The 1875 Carta General del Archipiรฉlago Filipino

These invaluable cartographic works are on public display at the NLP Permanent Gallery, open Mondays through Thursdays, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Viewing is free.

FREE resources for Filipino Childrens' Books online. I personally checked these resources and the Childrens' books are available in different formats - PDF download, audio, or read-along videos. Each of these resources have very rich collections of books ideal for younger readers. Check out the Bloom Digital Library, they even have books in local languages such as Hiligaynon and others. See comments for the links.

Teachers, parents, librarians, and kids (or kids at heart) are encouraged to save this.

Let's Read Asia is also available as a FREE mobile app in the Google Playstore or Apple App Store.
