RAWIS NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL โ Teachers from the Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) departments of Rawis National High School (RNHS) participated in the nationwide virtual In-Service Training (INSET) entitled โILAW in Action: Design and Deliver Effective Lessons through Explicit Instruction,โ a professional development initiative under the DepEd NEAP and Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF) STEM Collab on September 10-12, 2026.
The training aims to strengthen teachersโ capacity to design and deliver effective lessons using explicit instruction, enabling them to provide clearer, more structured, and more responsive learning experiences for students.
Before the virtual training officially commenced, RNHS conducted an opening program to set the tone for the learning sessions. Cenita D. Giray, TLE Department Head, delivered the opening remarks, followed by the checking of attendance led by Miguela C. Estrellado, Science Department Head. A meaningful food for thought was shared by Rex Arnold B. Irinco, Mathematics Department Head, while Dr. Emma Merino, School Principal, presented the rationale of the training.
Adding energy to the opening activity, the MAPEH Department led an interactive energizer that encouraged the teachers to actively participate and prepare themselves for the learning sessions ahead.

As part of the GBF STEM Collab initiative, the participating teachers were provided with a Ka-Collab Training Kit containing handouts, learning outputs, and other references designed to support their learning throughout the webinar series. Teachers were encouraged to download and print the materials beforehand to facilitate active participation in the activities.
Upon successful completion of the training requirements, the teachers are expected to earn 12 CPD units. They may likewise receive a certificate upon obtaining the required passing score in the post-test for each session.
To ensure that the concepts discussed during the virtual sessions are translated into actual classroom practice, Dr. Emma Merino required teachers to accomplish and submit hard copies of their outputs through their respective departments.
Among the required outputs are the Lesson Mapping and Revision Activity: Integrating Explicit Instruction Principles, an Annotated Lesson Plan demonstrating the I Do, We Do, You Do sequence, and the Lesson Review Feedback Checklist and Rubric.
These activities are intended to move teachers beyond simply understanding explicit instruction toward applying, reviewing, and refining the approach in their own lesson planning and classroom instruction.

The participation of RNHS teachers in the GBF STEM Collab INSET reflects the schoolโs continuing commitment to professional growth, instructional excellence, and improved learner outcomes.
For the RNHS teaching force, the training is more than another professional development requirement โ it is an opportunity to ILAW the way toward clearer instruction, stronger teaching practices, and better learning experiences for every RNHS learner.
